About this position:

We’re looking for a Web Development Lead to take ownership of Later’s web experiences, ensuring they are fast, scalable, and conversion-optimized. As a hands-on leader, you’ll balance coding and technical execution with mentoring and setting high standards for the team.
In this role, you’ll oversee the delivery of high-performance landing pages, optimize our Contentful CMS workflows, and implement analytics and experimentation frameworks to drive measurable impact. Reporting to our Sr.  Marketing PM, you’ll play a key role in building a world-class web team that fuels Later’s growth.

What you'll be doing:

Strategy

  • Define and implement web support criteria, internal processes (example: QA), self-serve strategy and site testing.
  • Lead the adoption and training of scalable infrastructure, tools, and frameworks to future-proof Later’s web properties.
  • Build frameworks for experimentation (A/B testing, Amplitude insights) to guide web strategy.
  • Review and evolve our CMS solution to ensure it scales effectively and supports future business needs.

Technical/ Execution

  • Build and optimize landing pages that deliver on performance, SEO, and conversion goals.
  • Manage and optimize Contentful CMS structure and workflows to reduce engineering bottlenecks and enable non-technical teams.
  • Implement analytics instrumentation with Amplitude, ensuring accurate tracking and accessible dashboards for stakeholders.
  • Write high-quality, performant code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Gatsby.
  • Work comfortably in Figma to review, interpret, and collaborate on high-fidelity mockups with design teams.
  • Ensure web properties consistently meet Core Web Vitals and maintain >99% uptime.

Team / Collaboration

  • Mentor and guide team members, setting clear technical standards and fostering growth.
  • Collaborate closely with our Marketing Leadership Team  to align on priorities, web goals and deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency.
  • Lead onboarding for new web hires, including preparing updated materials and standard practices to support all new hires.
  • Partner with external agencies as needed, managing onboarding, workflow integration, and ensuring delivery meets Later’s quality and technical standards.

Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing web development team with clear ownership and accountability.
  • Set a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and reliable delivery.
  • Act as a hands-on leader, balancing development with oversight of team processes and output.

Research/Best Practices

  • Stay on top of emerging trends in web development, CMS best practices, and performance optimization.
  • Continuously test and refine web experiences to maximize usability, accessibility, and business impact.
  • Evaluate and introduce new tools and frameworks that improve efficiency and scalability.

  • Later’s web team operates as a high-performing, scalable function with clear ownership, strong technical standards, and effective collaboration across Marketing, Product, and agency partners.
  • CMS workflows are optimized to reduce engineering dependency, empower non-technical teams, and support faster go-to-market execution.
  • High-quality landing pages and web experiences consistently improve conversion rates, pipeline growth, and user engagement, supported by robust tracking and experimentation frameworks.
  • Core Web Vitals, site reliability, and scalability remain strong, with the team driving not just execution but also shaping the long-term web strategy and roadmap.

What you bring:

  • Proven leadership experience managing, mentoring, or guiding a web development team.
  • Hands-on experience building and optimizing landing pages with a focus on performance, SEO, accessibility standards and conversions.
  • Strong expertise in Contentful and Wordpress, including structuring and maintaining workflows.
  • Strong background in building fast, user-focused, and conversion-optimized web experiences.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks, QA processes, and cross-browser/device testing.
  • Experience implementing analytics and tracking with Amplitude.
  • Experience in configuring and maintaining third-party script and tracking tools to support experimentation and campaign needs
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Gatsby.
  • Experience with implementing animation for visual enhancement, improve user experience and direct user focus.
  • Experience with additional CMS or web development frameworks.
  • Knowledge of automation tools and performance monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of backend APIs and serveless functions.

Our approach to compensation:

We take a market-based & data-driven approach to compensation. We leverage data from trusted third-party compensation sources to help us understand the market value of a role based on function, level, geographic location, and scope. We evaluate compensation bi-annually, including performance and market-related factors.

Our salaries are benchmarked against market Total Cash Compensation for the geographic location of our job posting. Compensation for some roles is structured as On Target Earnings (OTE = base + commission/variable) while for others it is structured as Salary only.

To comply with local legislation and ensure transparency, we share salary ranges on all job postings. Skills, experience and other factors help determine the final salary we offer which may vary from the original range posted. 

Additionally, all permanent team members are eligible to participate in various benefits plans as part of their overall compensation package.

Salary Range: 

$ 130,000 - $ 150,000 USD
