About the Job:

LaunchDarkly is looking for an experienced Mobile Engineer to join our Observability team, delivering best-in-class telemetry solutions tailored specifically for mobile applications. Our mission is to redefine software release and reliability by automating end-to-end processes, measuring real-time impacts of feature rollouts, and simplifying incident diagnosis specifically on Android and iOS platforms. From mobile-specific code-level tracing to user interaction insights, these signals form the backbone of safe, data-driven mobile application releases. You’ll shape the foundation of how our customers understand and optimize their mobile feature deployments, building performant, reliable, and scalable systems.

Our work spans collecting raw telemetry directly from mobile applications, enriching data to deliver actionable insights, and exposing intuitive, real-time metrics and visualizations tailored for mobile experiences. You’ll drive development of the mobile SDKs to provide granular code instrumentation and closely collaborate with product and UX teams to ensure our telemetry meets the unique needs of mobile developers, all while scaling our mobile data ingestion pipeline.

If you’re passionate about mobile observability, native mobile frameworks, and empowering engineering teams with real-time data, we’d love for you to join us!

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance native mobile SDKs (Android Java/Kotlin and/or iOS Swift / Objective-C) for telemetry ingestion including session replay (real user monitoring),logging, tracing and metrics.
  • Optimize mobile data pipelines to ensure high throughput and low latency telemetry reporting.
  • Drive mobile-focused features end-to-end: prototype, design APIs, develop robust SDKs, and validate their performance and reliability in production environments.
  • Collaborate closely on enhancements to mobile-specific OpenTelemetry SDK integrations, ensuring seamless and efficient signal emission.
  • Partner with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to deliver intuitive, high-quality observability tools tailored for mobile engineers.
  • Actively mentor peers and foster best practices within the mobile development domain.
  • Participate in architecture, code, and specification reviews specifically aimed at maintaining quality and reliability of mobile observability tooling.
  • Contribute proactively to evolving our mobile engineering standards, processes, and tooling practices across LaunchDarkly.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in native mobile development with expertise in one or more of:
    • Android Java and Kotlin
    • iOS Swift
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing mobile SDKs and telemetry frameworks. Experience with real user monitoring in mobile applications is preferred.
  • Familiarity with mobile application observability tools (e.g., OpenTelemetry for mobile, Firebase Performance Monitoring, Datadog mobile). Familiarity with the LaunchDarkly product and SDKs is a plus.
  • Experience utilizing AI tooling to enhance mobile development efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and maintain APIs that deliver robust mobile experiences.
  • Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and mobile-specific performance optimization techniques.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Self-driven, curious about emerging technologies in mobile observability, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.

About LaunchDarkly:

Modern software delivery was supposed to be the foundation for a thriving digital business but reality has proven otherwise. Slow, inefficient development cycles, costly outages, and fragmented customer experiences are preventing developers from building their best software. The LaunchDarkly platform helps developers innovate on new features faster while protecting them with a safety valve to instantly rewind when things go wrong. Developers can target product experiences to any customer segment and maximize the business impact of every feature. And by gradually rolling out new application components, they escape nightmare "big-bang" technology migrations.

The LaunchDarkly platform was built to guide engineers to the next frontier of DevOps by:

  • Improving the velocity and stability of software releases, without the fear of end customer outages
  • Delivering targeted experiences by easily personalizing features to customer cohorts
  • Maximizing the business impact of every feature through the ability to experiment and optimize
  • Coordinating the release and optimization of software to provide consistent experiences across mobile platforms and device types
  • Improving the effectiveness and productivity of engineering teams, by providing insights into engineering cadence and stability

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
