About the Role:

Liquid I.V. is looking for a strategic, commercially minded Senior Manager of Consumer Insights to join our growing Consumer Insights team. This role sits at the intersection of brand strategy and business impact, owning consumer research that directly informs how we go to market. 

You’ll serve as the lead insights partner to our Downstream Brand Marketing team, guiding the development of effective, consumer-driven marketing communications. From campaign testing and messaging optimization to brand positioning and equity tracking, you’ll ensure our creative efforts are not only compelling, but also aligned to commercial goals. 

In addition to leading high-impact research, you’ll manage one direct report (Associate Manager, Consumer & Shopper Insights) and collaborate closely across cross-functional teams including EComm & Media, Impact Marketing, Upstream Brand Marketing, and Sales/Category Management. 

Functions and duties of this role include, but not limited to:

  • Build and lead the consumer learning plan for all primary research related to marketing communications and brand storytelling, such as: 
    • 360 creative campaign development and advertising testing, from campaign big idea to finished film 
    • Brand positioning 
    • Brand equity and health tracking  
    • Post-launch success measurement 
  • Partner with the Downstream Brand Marketing Team to build stellar comms briefs that drive brand awareness, household penetration, and long-term brand equity, leveraging:
    • Clear design target and target media audience
    • Sharp underlying consumer tensions and cultural insights
    • Emotional and functional drivers of the category and our brand  
  • Collaborate with the Consumer Insights Manager to ensure a seamless transition of consumer knowledge from Upstream product innovation development to Downstream go-to-market execution to shape comms strategy and messaging 
  • Strengthen and evolve foundational consumer insights around hydration, spanning attitudes, behaviors, segmentation, usage occasions, etc.
  • Identify forward-looking consumer trends, cultural tensions, and category dynamics that inspire future brand campaigns, unlock fresh creative territories, and strengthen long-term brand equity
  • Lead consumer research to evaluate and optimize messaging around Liquid I.V.’s Impact program, ensuring our initiatives resonate authentically and drive brand trust  
  • Oversee market research vendor relationships (RFP, budgeting, execution) and identify innovative partners and leading-edge methodologies to evolve our research approach  
  • Manage and mentor the Associate Manager, Consumer & Shopper Insights 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:  

  • 7+ years in consumer insights, market research, and/or marketing consultant roles. 4+ years working with CPG brand preferred
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree. Advanced Degree highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading brand communications research with experience in product innovation testing 
  • A business-oriented mindset – understands how marketing drives results and can connect insights to commercial impact
  • Exceptional storytelling and data synthesis skills – able to distill complex, sometimes ambiguous consumer data into clear narratives and confidently recommend a path forward 
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills – can influence senior leaders by tying insights to strategic business outcomes 
  • Proactive and results oriented – ability to work independently under ambiguous direction and has an innate sense of urgency/attention to deadlines 
  • Well-versed in a broad range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies (e.g., MaxDiff, conjoint, TURF). Robust experience with qual moderation a plus. 
  • Expertise in DIY survey platform tools (Suzy, Qualtrics, etc.) 
  • Proficiency in POS syndicated data (e.g., IRI/Circana, Nielsen, SPINS) and household panel data (e.g., IRI/Circana, Numerator)

The expected salary range for this position is $123,000 - $184,600 annually and is bonus eligible. The exact salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal company equity, and budget.  The listed range is applicable only to the annual base salary and does not include additional perks, benefits, or applicable bonus eligibility comprising the total compensation package.
