Job Summary
The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and successful execution of commercial and industrial construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership, this role assists with project scheduling, cost tracking, procurement, subcontractor coordination, project documentation, and client communication to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards.
Success in this role is demonstrated by strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to coordinate multiple project activities simultaneously.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with the execution of large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects within the data center, power generation, renewables, mining, and oil & gas industries.
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources to promote efficient and cost-effective project execution.
- Monitor project schedules and assist in identifying and mitigating delays or project risks.
- Track project costs, production quantities, and progress to help ensure projects remain on budget and on schedule.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, change orders, meeting minutes, daily reports, and project correspondence.
- Assist with procurement activities, vendor coordination, material tracking, and equipment scheduling.
- Collaborate with field supervision to verify work is completed according to project specifications, quality standards, and contract requirements.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate updates with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with project closeout activities including punch lists, turnover documentation, warranties, and final project reporting.
- Support implementation and enforcement of company safety policies and environmental compliance requirements.
- Utilize project management, scheduling, and accounting software to maintain accurate project records and performance data.
- Foster positive working relationships with employees, customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other Loenbro business units.
Qualifications
Required:
- Engineering or Construction Management Degree preferred.
- Experience working on large scale commercial or industrial projects, ideally with 10+ million USD value.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a coordinator, project engineer, assistant project engineer, or similar within the Mechanical or Structural construction spaces.
Preferred:
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Job or similar job costing program.
- Experience with P6 or similar scheduling software.
- Experience with Viewpoint or similar account software.
- Experience with Heavy Bid or similar estimating software.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office products.
- Completion of OSHA or equivalent safety training.
- Ability to travel.
- Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
