Intern, Stamping/BIW Packaging Design Engineer, Summer 2025
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to join our Packaging Engineering Team and perform activities related of development of packaging for upcoming models and improve current processes within Lucid logistics. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of packaging systems/design and be able to work independently and collaboratively to ensure our designs are functioning efficiently.
Role/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with packaging engineers to ensure that Packaging designs meet functional, technical, and cost requirements.
- Support cost savings initiatives for current and future programs.
- Provide innovative solutions to complex supply chain challenges across inbound part logistics.
- Establish cross-functional relationships within Lucid to enhance part movement efficiency.
- Speak directly with tier 1 suppliers, specifically regarding applicable packaging designs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Field(s) of study: Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program
- Use of CAD systems (e.g. CATIA, AutoCAD Inventor, SolidWorks) for package concepting, entry level acceptable.
- Ability to work with a large amount of data and utilize Excel for various analysis tasks is essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for speaking with Lucid tier 1 partners and vendors.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds.
Program Information:
- Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
- Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
- Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
- Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $40 to $60.
- Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
- Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
- Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
- Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
- Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
- Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.
Base Pay Range (hourly)
$26 - $38 USD
