
Maintenance Supervisor, BIW
The Maintenance Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance activities during assigned shifts in the Body in White (BIW) production area. This role requires strong leadership skills and technical expertise in automated manufacturing systems, particularly Fanuc robots and Rockwell (Allen Bradley) PLC and tooling. The ideal candidate will ensure that equipment is properly maintained, downtime is minimized, and productions goals are supported through efficient maintenance planning and execution.
You Will
- Supervise and coordinate all maintenance activities during your shift to ensure continuous and efficient operation of automated BIW systems.
- Lead maintenance technicians and electricians in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment.
- Ensure proper functionality of automated equipment used throughout the BIW processes.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to support shift operations and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate shift logs, maintenance records, and downtime reports.
- Support and enforce preventive maintenance schedules and work orders through the CMMS.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety standards and regulations.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff to enhance technical competency and foster continuous improvement.
- Assist with spare parts management and inventory control.
- Adjust work schedules as needed to meet production requirements.
- Enforce Lucid Motors standards and manage external integrators throughout specification, design review, and design approval.
You Bring
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with industrial robotics (Fanuc)
- Knowledge of BIW joining processes such as resistance welding, SPR, and sealing.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance activities, TPM scheduling, and manufacturing operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Experience in the automotive industry, preferably BIW, in a supervisory or lead role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and organizational abilities.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for 8–12 hours per shift on hard surfaces in a production environment.
- Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for handling tools, assembling components, and operating machinery. Requires fine motor skills and grip strength.
- Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 10–50 lbs. regularly; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
- Reaching and Bending: Routine reaching above shoulders, bending, and twisting waist, and squatting as part of process and tasks.
- Repetitive Motions: Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movements for tasks such as fastening, positioning, and installing.
- Climbing: Occasional use of steps to access different height level areas.
- PPE Expectations: Must wear required PPE (safety shoes, gloves, protective sleeves, eye and hearing protection) as per company safety standards.
