Director of Procurement

SUMMARY 

At Magnolia, the Director of Procurement oversees the intake, evaluation, solution creation, and execution of procurement, capital expenditure, and construction projects, ensuring timely and economical completion. They establish effective processes, allocate resources efficiently, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the Director evaluates vendors, manages bid processes, negotiates contracts, and monitors vendor performance to ensure the best value for all Magnolia business units. The Director utilizes effective communication skills and creates clear project goals and timelines to ensure the success of their team. This position works from Magnolia Headquarters in Waco, Texas. It reports to the Chief Financial Officer and has supervisory responsibilities. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Create organizational clarity for the fields of Internal Procurement and construction Project Management at Magnolia  
  • Develop budgets, policies and procedures, strategies and objectives for these departments and their individual projects and communicate them to stakeholders effectively* 
  • Build and maintain respectful, transparent relationships with internal and external stakeholders, initiating and leading collaborative efforts to define goals, deliverables, and timelines* 
  • Evaluate project and procurement requests against company goals and resourcefully manage existing company resources to satisfy stakeholder needs and timelines* 
  • Ensure appropriate due diligence is completed prior to project execution and ongoing governance of internal controls is respected  
  • Collaborate with legal department to ensure vendor agreements accurately reflect services, hedge against risk, and are appropriately executed 
  • Strategically source vendor options and manage formal bid processes 
  • Clearly present outcomes to decision makers and assist in the evaluation of solutions against company goals 
  • Negotiate pricing, terms of service and define performance expectations with vendors 
  • Approve purchase orders within budgetary limitations and assist in placing orders and tracking order status  
  • Assign tasks and foster collaborative accountability among stakeholders to ensure timely completion 
  • Identify potential risks, create contingency plans, and promptly communicate these to relevant stakeholders; recommend actionable strategies to protect project goals* 
  • Manage, train and coach staff to provide the highest level of individual performance and cross-functional support 
  • Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes to increase efficiency and quality of deliverables 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Hard skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. Proficiency with NetSuite Advanced Procurement or equivalent preferred. 

ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university preferred 
  • 5+ years of related work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred 
  • 5+ years of managerial experience preferred 
  • Experience in negotiation, contract review, and strategic sourcing required 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and arms to reach, handle, feel; utilize fine motor dexterity of fingers; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
