
Payroll Manager
This role is onsite in Hallandale Beach, FL
SUMMARY
We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Payroll Manager to own and manage the end-to-end payroll function at MARA. This role is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing across our U.S. operations, with additional exposure to international payroll support and equity administration.
The ideal candidate is a Workday payroll expert, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is motivated by building efficient, scalable payroll processes from the ground up.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Payroll Responsibilities:
- Own full-cycle payroll processing for all MARA employees (semi-monthly, multi-state, exempt and non-exempt employees), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Administer and reconcile payroll runs using Workday Payroll, coordinating closely with internal HR, Finance, and Accounting teams
- Partner with OneSource Virtual (OSV) for post-payroll services including tax filing, year-end processing, and garnishment administration
- Support U.S. and international payroll processing (average once a month) in partnership with third-party vendors
- Oversee year-end reporting, W-2s, and federal/state filings including 941 and 940 through Workday or relevant providers
- Ensure accurate documentation, compliance with applicable wage/tax regulations (e.g., FLSA, IRS, DOL), and timely filings.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws, including garnishments, tax withholdings, and labor laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, IRS, DOL).
- Assist with high volume equity plan administration, including taxation, reporting, and integration into payroll runs
- Ensure accurate setup of pay components, earnings codes, and cost allocations in Workday
- Manage payroll reporting, audits, and reconciliations; respond to internal and external audit requests
- Collaborate cross-functionally on compensation changes, new hire onboarding, and terminations as they impact payroll
- Work closely with the HR Business Partners in Digital Energy to coordinate payroll related to the sites and Digital Energy team
- Stay current on payroll legislation and best practices; recommend process improvements and automation where possible

- 5+ years of hands-on payroll experience, including at least 2 years managing end-to-end payroll independently
- Strong experience with Workday Payroll (required)
- Familiarity with OneSource Virtual (OSV) services (preferred)
- Exposure to international payroll processes (preferred)
- Experience with equity compensation and payroll tax implications (preferred)
- Manufacturing/hospitality industry experience or exposure to hourly/non-exempt populations (a plus)
- Deep knowledge of multi-state payroll tax and compliance requirements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage sensitive data with discretion and confidentiality
