This pivotal position resides with one of our Talent Solutions client where we have established a strong partnership. The VP of ERP & Business Applications will own the end-to-end technology strategy and operational execution of our ERP ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on NetSuite, Order Management Systems (OMS), and cross-functional business process optimization. This person will be a key stakeholder in company-wide initiatives, directly influencing how we scale our back-end operations and ensuring our technology enables—rather than limits—our growth. 

Role: VP of ERP & Business Applications 

Location: Los Angeles, California (Hybrid work schedule, 3 days in office) 

Status: MHI is a successful managed services partner and now assisting with their key direct hire needs 

Key Qualifications/Responsibilities:

Responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership 

  • Act as the functional and technical owner of ERP (NetSuite), Order Management, and core business applications
  • Define and lead a multi-year ERP roadmap, including strategic integrations and platform enhancements
  • Partner with executive leadership to present key system performance, project updates, and risks with clarity and transparency
  • Provide structured, executive-ready updates—communicating blockers early, with a solutions-first mindset
  • Establish standard documentation practices for cross-functional status updates and steering committee communication
  • Identify and implement short- and long-term solutions that support business growth, operational efficiency, and compliance

Systems Architecture & Process Ownership 

  • Oversee Order to Cash (O2C) processes and all GL-impacting transactions
  • Own architecture and optimization of Inventory and Virtual Location Management across a multi-warehouse, multi-entity network
  • Develop and enforce standards for system configuration, scripted transformations, and custom record management in NetSuite
  • Design and refine fulfillment logic including routing rules and shipping rule optimization to maximize cost-effectiveness and service level adherence
  • Ensure scalable support for Intercompany transactions, Transfer Pricing, and cross-border compliance
  • Support and enhance cost management practices including FIFO, Landed Cost (duties, freight), and COGS reconciliation

Operational Execution 

  • Maintain and improve procedures supporting Accounting Close, Tax, and Audit processes
  • Lead all technology-related support during monthly/quarterly closes to ensure timeliness and accuracy
  • Implement monitoring tools and feedback loops to drive continuous system optimization
  • Partner with Logistics and Operations teams to scale warehouse processes and OMS fulfillment logic
  • Build and maintain data and control integrity between OMS and ERP, ensuring completeness across transactional flows

Team & Project Leadership 

  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team across ERP Engineering, Product Management, and Reporting & Analysis
  • Set clear performance expectations, hold team members accountable, and recognize top performers
  • Guide team leads in evaluating performance gaps—managing up when appropriate, and managing out when necessary
  • Provide consistent feedback and mentorship to cultivate high performers and emerging leaders
  • Deliver comprehensive project documentation including roadmaps, timelines, and executive summaries
  • Foster a culture of transparency, ownership, and proactive issue resolution

Experience & Qualifications 

  • 10+ years in ERP and business systems leadership, preferably in Apparel, Retail, or CPG
  • 7+ years hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP, with deep expertise in:
       - Custom Records, Scripted Transformations, and GL-impacting transaction flows 
       - Inventory and Virtual Location Management 
       - Multi-entity support including Intercompany and Transfer Pricing 
       - Cost Management (FIFO, Landed Cost, Duties & Freight) 
  • Proven success driving ERP support during Accounting Close and Audit cycles
  • Extensive experience managing OMS platforms; preference for Teamwork Commerce, but experience with others (e.g., Salesforce, Manhattan) considered transferable
  • Strong fulfillment and routing optimization knowledge across multi-warehouse operations
  • 7+ years managing cross-functional teams in engineering, product, or systems implementation
  • Demonstrated excellence in people management—especially expectation setting, performance accountability, and team development
