VP, Technical Alliances

Designed for mission-critical, production workloads, MinIO is deployed by 77% of the F100 and powers many of the largest private cloud AI deployments in the world.  MinIO is looking for a VP, Technical Alliances.

As the VP of Technical Alliances, you will be responsible for developing, executing, and managing the technical partnership strategy that will support our product development, go-to-market initiatives, and overall company growth. You will work closely with the executive team and cross-functional departments to identify key opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and mutual value. This is a senior leadership position that requires a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and strategic vision.

What You Will Do:

  • Alliance Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive technical alliances strategy that aligns with the company’s business goals and objectives. Identify and prioritize high-impact partnerships to drive product innovation, market expansion, and revenue growth.
  • Partner Relationship Management: Build and manage deep, strategic relationships with key technology partners, including cloud providers, infrastructure vendors, ISVs (Independent Software Vendors), and other technology stakeholders. Foster a collaborative, win-win approach to partnerships.
  • Technical Leadership: Work closely with the product and engineering teams to ensure technical alignment with partners and facilitate joint solutions development. Provide thought leadership in technical discussions and advocate for our product's capabilities within partner organizations.
  • Go-to-Market Collaboration: Collaborate with sales, marketing, and business development teams to co-market joint solutions, develop sales enablement materials, and execute joint go-to-market strategies that increase product adoption and drive new customer acquisition.
  • Partnership Performance: Establish clear KPIs and metrics to measure the success of alliances. Monitor and report on partnership performance, ensuring alignment with business objectives and continually optimizing the partnerships for maximum impact.
  • Negotiation & Deal Structuring: Lead negotiations of partnership agreements, contracts, and joint initiatives, ensuring both parties' needs are met while protecting the company’s interests. Ensure a mutually beneficial structure for long-term collaboration.
  • Market Intelligence & Innovation: Keep abreast of the latest trends in the object storage, cloud, and tech industry. Identify opportunities for new partnerships, potential acquisitions, or technology integrations that enhance our product offering and market position.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (engineering, sales, marketing, product management) to ensure seamless execution of partnership initiatives and alignment across all functions.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in technical alliances, business development, or partner management within the tech industry, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in cloud computing, storage solutions, or related fields.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of object storage, cloud platforms, infrastructure technologies, and the broader tech ecosystem. Experience working with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and other enterprise tech partners is a plus.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement a long-term strategy for technical partnerships that aligns with business objectives and drives growth.
  • Relationship Building: Proven experience building and managing high-level relationships with senior leaders at partner organizations. Strong negotiation and deal-closing skills.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams. Experience managing a team of partner managers or business development professionals.
  • Go-to-Market Expertise: Familiarity with go-to-market strategies and executing joint initiatives that drive product adoption, revenue growth, and market presence.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: Strong ability to analyze data and performance metrics to assess the success of partnerships and make data-driven decisions to improve results.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Adaptability and a growth mindset to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
