Overview
Moonshot is hiring a Vice President of Project Management to build and lead a high-performance PMO responsible for executing complex electrical equipment projects for hyperscale data centers.
This role owns project execution end-to-end, from sales handoff through equipment turnover, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with complete documentation. You will establish standardized processes, implement scalable systems, and lead a growing team of Project Managers and Field Service Technicians across switchgear, ATS, RPP, UPS, and UL-listed panel assemblies.
This is a builder role. You will design, implement, and scale the PMO from the ground up while driving execution on critical projects. The team is currently lean with planned growth this year.
You will partner closely with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and operations, and are ultimately accountable for execution predictability, schedule reliability, and customer delivery performance across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
PMO Leadership & Execution
· Build and lead Moonshot’s PMO, including structure, governance, and standardized execution processes
· Own delivery across all projects (schedule, budget, scope, documentation, and customer turnover)
· Drive consistent execution from sales handoff through engineering, procurement, production, delivery, and closeout
· Establish stage gates, project controls, and reporting rhythms to ensure visibility and accountability
Cross-Functional Delivery
· Align Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Field Service, and Operations around project priorities and commitments
· Coordinate end-to-end execution to ensure on-time delivery
· Identify and remove risks and bottlenecks across the project lifecycle, especially in long-lead and engineer-to-order environments
· Improve handoffs, expectation setting, and change visibility with Sales and Leadership
Team Leadership
· Lead and scale a high-performing team of Project Managers and Field Service Technicians
· Define roles, capacity, KPIs, and accountability across project and field execution
· Coach the team on execution discipline, communication, and decision-making under pressure
· Build a culture of ownership, urgency, and follow-through
Customer & Commercial Management
· Ensure clear, consistent communication on schedules, risks, and project status
· Own escalations, issue resolution, and high-risk customer programs
· Drive disciplined change order management to protect scope, schedule, and margin
· Ensure strong turnover readiness (documentation, startup coordination, and closeout)
Systems & Continuous Improvement
· Implement tools and systems for project tracking, forecasting, and reporting
· Establish KPIs for delivery performance, cycle time, and execution quality
· Improve speed, predictability, and cross-functional handoffs
· Build scalable processes to support rapid growth
Industry & Technical Experience
· Experience in electrical equipment manufacturing, power distribution, data center, or industrial engineering-to-order environments
· Familiarity with long-lead procurement, UL standards (508A, 891, 67), factory coordination, and commissioning/turnover processes
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of project management experience in manufacturing, EPC, industrial systems, or engineering-to-order environments, with 5+ years leading teams or PM organizations.
- Proven track record building or scaling a PMO, project delivery function, or similar execution organization in a fast-paced operating environment.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex, multi-disciplinary projects on time and within budget while managing customer expectations and internal constraints.
- Strong operator mindset with the ability to drive execution and outcomes, not just manage status.
- Experience managing large project portfolios with competing priorities, shifting timelines, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Solid financial acumen, including budget management, cost tracking, margin awareness, and change order discipline.
- Strong risk identification, escalation management, and mitigation capability.
- Experience implementing project management tools, systems, dashboards, and reporting frameworks that improve control and predictability.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, build teams, and create structure in environments that are scaling quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP or equivalent certification.
- Experience in high-growth or scaling organizations.
- Experience implementing ERP and PM tool integrations.
- Background in data center infrastructure, hyperscale environments, or mission-critical power systems.
- Experience leading both office-based project management resources and field-facing execution teams.
