Senior Vehicle Technician

About the Role:

We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Vehicle Technician to join our Pittsburgh-based team supporting the build, testing, and validation of advanced vehicle platforms—including autonomous and electric vehicle systems. This is a hands-on, senior-level technician role for someone with deep mechanical and electrical knowledge. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, diagnose, and repair vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Support prototype builds, retrofits, and system integrations for advanced vehicle programs.
  • Interpret and build custom vehicle wire harnesses based on engineering schematics and documentation.
  • Use tools such as multimeters, diagnostic scanners, and CAN analysis software.
  • Interpret schematics, SOPs, and work instructions to execute builds with high precision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to verify form, fit, and function of components.
  • Collaborate with engineering to identify and resolve system issues and validate new designs.
  • Document work clearly and accurately in JIRA and Confluence.
  • Maintain high safety and quality standards across all work performed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of technician experience in automotive, EV, aerospace, or related fields.
  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics and building custom wire harnesses.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems—CAN, Ethernet, low-voltage, sensors, and actuators.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of technical tasks.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Bonus Skills:

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or equivalent industry-standard harness fabrication certification.
    Experience with CAD or harness design software such as EB-CAD or SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Completion of automotive or electrical trade school program.
  • SAE certification in automotive systems or electrical diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with flashing ECUs and basic diagnostics using UDS or OBD tools.
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety systems and industry quality standards.

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors including but not limited to specific skills, experience and expertise, role location, certifications, licenses, and business needs. Salary Range

$75,000 - $98,200 USD
