Director, Software Engineering
Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Software Engineering to lead the development of software applications that harness the power of Real-World Data (RWD) to drive innovation in healthcare and life sciences. This role is instrumental in delivering scalable, secure, and user-centric applications that accelerate insights, enable scientific discovery, and improve patient outcomes.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with a proven track record of managing high-performing, distributed teams. In this role, you will partner closely with Data and Platform Engineering, Product Management, Clinical, and Research stakeholders to ensure our RWD applications are built to meet business, scientific, and user needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering of RWD applications, including the design, build, and delivery of new features and enhancements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to distributed engineering teams, fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and collaboration.
- Translate scientific and product requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable software architectures.
- Drive end-to-end execution of development initiatives, including estimation, project planning, and cross-functional coordination.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across Data Engineering, Clinical, and Research to align technical execution with business and scientific goals.
- Ensure smooth communication across remote and onsite teams while continuously improving engineering processes to maximize quality, efficiency, and velocity.
- Contribute as a core member of the leadership team, helping shape the company’s digital and data strategy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 10+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.
- Proven experience managing geographically distributed teams.
- Expertise in developing serverless applications on AWS.
- Hands-on experience integrating with Salesforce, Electronic Health Records, or other enterprise platforms.
- Strong commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences through data-driven design.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience delivering digital products in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, diagnostics, or life sciences).
- Background in building scalable, multi-channel data-driven applications.
- Experience architecting distributed systems and working with RWD platforms.
- Proven record of effective project management and cross-functional leadership.
- Comfortable collaborating across diverse stakeholder groups, including clinical and research teams.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
