The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping and receiving department. This role ensures that all shipments are processed on time and accurately. This role will develop and implement customer-specific material handling processes. A valid forklift license is required to safely operate equipment and mentor team members on best practices.
PRIMARY DUTIES include but are not limited to:
- Supervise Daily Operations:
- Oversee and coordinate all shipping activities while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to project specific timelines.
- Oversee the receiving process for all incoming shipments ensuring customer specific product disposition instructions are followed.
- Monitor employee performance, offering guidance and hands-on support to ensure tasks are completed correctly and safely.
- Documentation & Process Compliance:
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve customer-specific shipping and receiving procedures.
- Document every step of the process—including labeling, packaging, inspection, and documentation—to meet client requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to tailor processes that align with specific client needs and quality standards.
- Forklift and Equipment Operations:
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely; ensure all operators are trained and maintain valid licenses.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce proper use of equipment in adherence with established protocols.
- Inventory & Quality Control:
- Oversee inventory management systems to ensure accurate records of incoming and outgoing products.
- Inspect shipments for damage, shortage, or overage; promptly resolve discrepancies with vendors and carriers.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on shipping/receiving performance, inventory, and process improvements.
- Team Leadership & Training:
- Hire, train, and mentor shipping and receiving personnel.
- Develop training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs) with a focus on customer-specific requirements and compliance standards.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Work closely with Warehouse & Logistics Manager, Technical Staging Manager and Project Management teams to optimize processes, resolve challenges, and drive overall warehouse efficiency.
- Identify and implement cost-saving and process improvement initiatives while maintaining high service levels.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all shipping and receiving activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Implement corrective actions as needed and lead regular safety meetings to promote a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in a shipping and receiving environment with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Proven experience in documenting and enforcing customer-specific processes and standard operating procedures.
- Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid forklift license is mandatory.
- Additional certifications in logistics, supply chain management, or warehouse safety are a plus.
- Skills:
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs. individually and team lift packages up to 100 lbs.
- Comfort with a physically active role that involves prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Working Environment
- The role is performed in a busy warehouse setting where safety and precision are paramount.
- Must be able to work in varying conditions including exposure to outdoor environments, fluctuating temperatures, and continuous use of warehouse equipment.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Full time – 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm.
Below is the pay range of this position for considered candidates based on qualifications and experience.
Pay Range
$65,000 - $70,000 USD
