
Junior Accountant - Financial Planning

Newsweek is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our Financial Planning team. This role supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to help drive strategic decision-making and ensure financial health. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a foundational understanding of accounting principles, and a desire to grow within the financial planning domain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and forecasts.
 - Support variance analysis between actual and budgeted figures.
 - Maintain and update financial models and reports.
 - Collaborate with departments to gather financial data and insights.
 - Help prepare presentations and reports for senior management.
 - Reconcile financial data and ensure accuracy in reporting.
 - Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
 - Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.
 
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
 - 0–2 years of experience in accounting or financial planning.
 - Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial planning software is a plus.
 - Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting, cost accounting is a plus.
 
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
 - Exposure to budgeting, forecasting processes, and cash management.
 - Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
