Junior Accountant - Financial Planning

Newsweek is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our Financial Planning team. This role supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to help drive strategic decision-making and ensure financial health. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a foundational understanding of accounting principles, and a desire to grow within the financial planning domain. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and forecasts. 
• Support variance analysis between actual and budgeted figures. 
• Maintain and update financial models and reports. 
• Collaborate with departments to gather financial data and insights. 
• Help prepare presentations and reports for senior management. 
• Reconcile financial data and ensure accuracy in reporting. 
• Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes. 
• Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and projects. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting 
• 0–2 years of experience in accounting or financial planning. 
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial planning software is a plus. 
• Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting, cost accounting is a plus. 

Preferred Skills: 

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). 
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting processes, and cash management. 
• Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
