The Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior QA engineer/QA Manager (Individual Contributor) to oversee the quality assurance processes in game development. This role is critical in ensuring our games meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and player experience. As a Senior QA engineer/QA Manager, you will lead internal QA efforts, collaborate with external vendors for localization testing, and work closely with producers and external studios throughout the game development cycle. Additionally, you will contribute to quality assurance during the design phase to ensure a seamless development process.

What You'll Do

⁠1. Internal QA Management:

  • Oversee the full QA process for internal game testing, ensuring bug-free and smooth gameplay experience.
  • Lead and mentor the internal QA team to deliver effective and efficient testing.
  • Conduct functional, regression, and performance testing of games across platforms.

2. Localization & Vendor Management:

  • Identify and manage external vendors for localization quality assurance, ensuring accurate and culturally appropriate translations.
  • Coordinate and oversee localization testing efforts, ensuring all regions meet the required standards for release.

3. Collaboration with External Studios:

  • Work alongside producers to communicate with external studios, ensuring that development goals and quality standards are met.
  • Act as QA liaison for co-development projects with external studios:
    • Align test scope with Producers/External Dev Directors
    • Conduct pre-submission reviews for milestone builds

4. QA in Design Phases:

  • Participate in the early design stages of the game cycle, providing feedback to designers to preemptively address potential issues.
  • Provide input on design documents, wireframes, and prototypes to ensure quality considerations are embedded from the start.

5. Reporting & Process Improvement:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of bugs, test cases, and QA reports using project management tools.
  • Continuously optimize QA workflows, ensuring efficiency and accuracy throughout the development pipeline.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in game quality assurance, including at least 2 years leading QA efforts or owning QA deliverables on projects, ideally within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of game development cycles and QA processes, from pre-production to post-launch.
  • Experience working with external studios and vendors, especially in localization QA.
  • Familiarity with different game platforms (PC, console, mobile) and their certification requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Passion for games and a commitment to delivering high-quality player experiences.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in English communication.
  • Passionate about breaking games (constructively!)
