About the role

The Communications Sr Specialist position, based in Mexico City, plays a pivotal role in enhancing the reputation and visibility of Nu within the Mexican market. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in media relations, strategic communications, product launch to press and content creators, and content development, as well as a deep understanding of the Mexican media landscape - especially in Municipalities- and cultural nuances. They will be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

You'll be responsible for: 

  • Media Relations and Outreach: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key journalists, media outlets, and influential figures in the Mexican market to proactively pitch compelling stories and secure positive media coverage that aligns with Nu's strategic goals.
  • New audiences: Building an organic content creators program to leverage products, features and updates among our value proposition to customers, landing positive earned coverage. 
  • Strategic Communications: Developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that effectively highlight Nu's brand, products, and services, and differentiate them within the competitive Mexican landscape.
  • Content Development: Crafting and delivering clear, compelling, and impactful content, including press releases, media pitches, talking points, and thought leadership articles, that resonate with target audiences and support Nu's communication objectives.
  • Cities: Propose and deploy a plan to connect with media outlets in Municipalities, expanding our coverage to new cities and audiences, leveraging customer local stories as key angles. 
  • Executive Support: Preparing and supporting senior executives for media interviews, public speaking engagements, and industry events, ensuring they are well-equipped to articulate Nu's vision, mission, and key messages.
  • Issues and Crisis Management: Monitoring the media landscape and identifying potential issues or crises that could impact Nu's reputation, and developing and implementing effective communication strategies to mitigate risks and protect the brand.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including marketing, product, and legal teams, to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging and communication efforts.
  • Market Intelligence: Staying abreast of industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments in the Mexican market, and leveraging insights to inform communication strategies and tactics.

We are looking for a person who has

  • Solid experience with communications of public companies, ideally in the tech or financial sectors. Consumer technology as a plus.  
  • Strategic thinking with the capability to create and execute PR plans with agility and accountability.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and cultures
  • Proven ability to maintain and cultivate strong relationships with tech and financial journalists.
  • Previous experience in crisis management 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English

Our Nu Way of Working 

Our work model is hybrid and has cycles that can be from two to three months according to the business of ​​expertise. For every eight or twelve weeks of remote work, one will be at the office.
