Medical Writer
Experienced to Senior level – Medical Communications
About the role
Our Senior Medical Writers (internal title: Medical Communications Managers) are responsible for developing high-quality medical communications and education for clinical audiences and patients. They become therapeutic area experts, work with the newest clinical data, liaise with some of the world’s leading medical experts and our pharmaceutical clients to deliver engaging medical content as part of a wide range of activities we organize, such as face-to-face and virtual meetings, and educational digital platforms. They play a key role in the medical communications teams in developing and executing strategic communication plans, and play a key role in winning new business.
Your responsibilities
- Developing medical/scientific content for medical education/communication activities, including educational events, Advisory Board meetings, congress booths/exhibits, eLearning content, peer-review publications, and educational digital platforms.
- Taking a leading role in the development of strategic communications plans, project proposals, and pitches for new business
- Supporting some of the world’s leading medical experts with creating content for medical communication, education and publication projects
- Leading project calls with pharmaceutical clients and medical experts to align on project scope and content direction, including meeting preparation
- Delivering medical education/communication projects within an assigned therapeutic area, ensuring medical accuracy, quality, efficiency, and adherence to project timelines
- Providing direction and guidance when delegating assigned projects to medical writers, editors, and studio staff, to ensure consistent high quality and alignment with medical/scientific objectives
- Supporting client team meetings
- Contributing to medical education/communication strategy development
- Communicating project status and changes effectively across internal and external stakeholders, and providing recommendations for actions towards the desired result
- Leading troubleshooting during project delivery
- Coaching and training junior team members to support their rapid development, with potential growth to become a manager

Requirements, skills, and qualifications for this role
- PhD in life sciences, MD, PharmD, or a biomedical MSc plus relevant work experience
- Prior experience in a medical communications agency, a scientific/medical publishing company, or the pharmaceutical industry
- Team player with a learning mindset that thrives on providing and receiving feedback
- Aptitude and interest in training/coaching junior team members
- Experience in building compelling stories from research data
- Ability to learn rapidly and apply knowledge in previously unfamiliar therapy areas
- Excellent command of the English language and outstanding written and communication skills
- Strategic, critical thinking in addition to strong analytical skills
- Ability to build compelling stories from research data

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (an aptitude for PowerPoint)
