Peak Design is expanding our manufacturing operations in Asia to support our growing product portfolio. We are looking for an experienced leader to establish and manage a team that will drive product development and manufacturing efficiency and quality for new and existing products. This is an on-site role in Vietnam that involves a broad range of project and leadership responsibilities to ensure that Peak Design continues to develop and ship great products!
Responsibilities:

As the In-Region General Manager, you will be responsible for building and managing a growing team of developers, project managers, quality persons, supply chain managers and more. You will be the key representative of Peak Design’s brand and values while working closely with our supplier network to oversee the manufacture of our products. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the Peak Design team to identify risks, opportunities, and set annual and quarterly objectives for the in-region team.
- Recruiting and onboarding in-region talent, as approved by Peak Design.
- Leading new product introductions with Asia-based contract manufacturers.
- Expanding and managing the Peak Design vendor network, including audits for quality, environmental, safety, and CSR standards.
- Overseeing quality assurance across the entire product range.
- Implementing design and manufacturing standards for consistency and quality.
- Leading cost reduction initiatives with CMs to meet target costs.
- Develop strong partnerships with vendors and factory partners, facilitating troubleshooting, quality assurance, and price negotiations.
- Getting your hands dirty - Key to this role is the ability to put out fires as they arise. This means that from time to time you will step out of your management role to tackle a technical problem yourself when it is critical to the team.
About you:
You have over five years of experience in overseas manufacturing, with years of hands-on experience working to develop soft goods products. You’re a skilled manager with the ability to lead teams, but also have the technical aptitude and experience to navigate complex manufacturing processes and quality challenges at all levels.
Required Experience
- Managing multi person engineering/development teams in new product introduction.
- Collaborating with CMs in south east Asia to drive NPI for new products.
- Solving complex manufacturing issues with vendors and engineers.
- Overseeing quality programs across multiple vendors.
- Leading sourcing and cost reduction efforts, including tariff optimization.
Skills
- Proven team leadership and communication skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Working with a multinational vendor network (e.g., Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan).
- Knowledge of fiber applications, weaving/knitting, dyeing, and finishing techniques.
- Deep understanding of bag and other soft goods manufacturing processes
- PLM system familiarity and use with overseas teams
- Familiarity with standards for consumer products and certification practices.
- Strong negotiation skills for pricing and material coordination
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese or other relevant language for our supply chain.
- Background in mechanical/electrical engineering or related technical field.
- Understanding of quality assurance standards and statistically-based quality control standards (AQL, GRR).
- Experience with mechanical design and manufacturing
- Passion for gear (e.g., photography, outdoor products) and strong opinions on product quality.
Additional Requirements:
- Must legally reside and work in Vietnam.
- Available for travel between Vietnam and the U.S. (1-2 times/year), and other Asian countries (1-10 times/year).
- In-office requirement: four days a week in the Ho Chi Minh office.
