The Role
We’re looking for a Government Affairs & Policy Lead to shape how our technology is adopted, influence legislation, and ensure our privacy-first values are reflected in the public arena. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of policy, advocacy, internal influence and market access. You’ll be Peregrine’s bridge to policymakers, regulators, lobbyists and public-safety leaders—guiding the conversation while directly enabling our growth in state and federal markets. As the key driver of Peregrine’s government affairs strategy, you’ll advise the leadership team on political risk and opportunity, build trusted relationships across all levels of government in partnership with our local teams, and ensure we engage the right lobbyists in the right markets while building the internal local assets needed to execute effectively.
What You'll Do
- Develop and refine Peregrine’s government affairs and policy practice, including a 3-year roadmap aligned with company OKRs
- Build trusted relationships with legislators, government officials and state and federal agencies, as identified in partnership with internal stakeholders
- Ensure alignment with the right lobbyists in priority markets and develop internal state-level assets to support execution
- Draft and deliver testimony, comment letters, policy briefs, and executive communications
- Lead coalition-building and thought-leadership initiatives that influence legislative and regulatory outcomes
- Monitor legislation, regulations, and grants related to public safety, data privacy, AI governance, and procurement and represent Peregrine publicly in industry forums, policy discussions and conferences
- Translate policy and funding insights into actionable plans for Product, Legal, Sales, and Engineering
- Partner with Sales and Contracts on RFP/RFQ strategies and identify funding streams to accelerate adoption
- Engage in keynote talks and media engagement that reinforce Peregrine’s privacy-first mission in partnership with marketing
What We Look For
- 10+ years in government affairs, public policy, or legislative strategy
- Deep network across state legislatures, federal lawmakers and federal agencies
- Proven track record of shaping legislation, securing favorable policy outcomes, and enabling public-sector market access
- Expertise in public-safety technology, data governance and privacy, or AI governance
- Strong executive communication skills—comfortable testifying, briefing boards, and engaging frontline officials
- Experience building or scaling a government affairs function in a high-growth environment
- History of executive thought leadership (e.g., keynote speeches, op-eds, or media presence shaping public discourse)
Salary Range: $175,000 - $225,000 Annually + Benefits + Equity (if applicable) + Bonus (if applicable)
