Role Overview
This role is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of Plexus' cloud-based and physical infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and availability. You will manage virtualized and physical environments, ensuring the health of data storage, system uptime, and hosting infrastructure. Beyond system engineering, you will lead the deployment of code from staging to production environments and drive initiatives that directly improve IT operations and align with business objectives. This position requires interfacing with stakeholders to identify business needs and implement impactful changes.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement scalable, cloud-based solutions.
  • Perform system engineering tasks, including software installation, access control, data backup, and system patching, with 99.9% success rate for availability and recovery processes.
  • Stay current on industry trends, implementing innovative techniques that enhance system performance.
  • Conduct training sessions to upskill teams, enabling adherence to best practices for infrastructure management and deployment processes.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions to standardize and streamline deployments.
  • Ensure 24/7 availability for mission-critical systems, responding to issues with a 95% resolution rate within SLA parameters.
  • Lead automation initiatives for deployment pipelines, improving deployment speed and reducing errors.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert on network performance, troubleshooting, and optimization.

Performance Based Qualifications

Educational and Professional Foundations

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or proven track record of equivalent experience delivering high-impact DevOps solutions.
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in a DevOps or Systems Engineer role, with measurable contributions to team performance and operational outcomes.

  Technical Certifications and Mastery

  • Achieved AWS Cloud Practitioner or SysOps Associate certification and Certified Kubernetes Administrator, ensuring expertise in managing cloud environments and container orchestration.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply certifications to reduce cloud infrastructure costs by at least 15% while maintaining or improving performance.

  Infrastructure Design and Implementation

  • Deliver scalable, enterprise-grade architecture solutions with a 99.9% system uptime and high availability.
  • Proven ability to address and mitigate security vulnerabilities, measurable by reduction in incident response time.

 Cloud Architecture and Monitoring

  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS, leading to optimized cloud architecture with cost savings and performance improvements.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring solutions (e.g., Dynatrace, New Relic) that enhanced system observability and reduced mean time to resolution.

Containerization and Deployment

  • Lead containerization efforts using Docker and Kubernetes, improving deployment consistency and reducing rollbacks.
  • Deliver infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions via Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK, reducing manual configurations wherever possible.

  CI/CD and Automation

  • Deployed robust CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, Chef, and Ansible, achieving a reduction in deployment time.
  • Automate key processes to increase engineering team efficiency and self-sufficiency, with a focus on reducing manual interventions by 30%.

Problem-Solving and Innovation

  • Apply creative and innovative problem-solving approaches, leading to measurable improvements in system reliability and performance.
  • Introduce process improvements that enhanced team productivity and reduced bottlenecks across the DevOps lifecycle.

  • Integrate test scripts into the CI/CD pipeline for seamless, automated deployments.

  • Conduct performance and load testing to ensure software stability under high traffic.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in a new programming language relevant to the role.

Ongoing:

  • Continuously maintain and improve the test case library, ensuring it reflects current software architecture.
  • Research and implement updated tools and methodologies to enhance QA processes.

Performance-Based Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, Informatics, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3+ years in software development and testing.

Technical Expertise:

  • You have advanced programming skills in one or more languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, C#).
  • You know automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG).
  • Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
  • You have a strong understanding of code flow and interactions between software components.

  • You have a proven ability to collaborate across teams and influence positive outcomes.
