Founding Product Designer
Prosper Health is on a mission to make life happier and healthier for autistic and neurodivergent adults.
Autistic adults have been systematically overlooked by the healthcare system—despite autism diagnoses increasing more than 5x in the past 25 years. This has led to extremely poor outcomes: autistic adults are 11x more likely than the average person to experience suicidal ideation and face a life expectancy 30 years shorter than average.
Prosper offers virtual mental health services—covered by insurance and built specifically for autistic adults. We help thousands of people get diagnosed for the first time in their lives, pair them with neurodivergent-affirming therapists, and foster belonging through community. In just 2 years, we have grown to double digit millions of run-rate revenue, thousands of active clients, and 200+ clinicians. We have a lean, ambitious team, and recently raised a Series A to help us transform mental health for autistic and neurodivergent adults.
The Role
As Prosper Health’s first Product Designer, you’ll help transform mental healthcare for autistic adults. You’ll help define the next generation of mental health care and guide how we integrate technology into our care delivery model.
You’ll also conduct weekly research with our community, and work directly with our CEO, engineering team, operations team, and hundreds of psychologists and therapists to solve UX challenges that don’t have existing playbooks.
This is your chance to build design culture from the ground up at a fast-growing Series A startup where every interface you create directly impacts people finding diagnosis, neurodivergent-affirming therapy, and belonging.
What you’ll do
- Lead feature design from concept to launch – Create screens, flows, and specs for features across both clinician and client-facing products
- Drive user research and validation – Conduct weekly interviews with clinicians and clients, test prototypes before development, and synthesize feedback into product improvements
- Partner with our 5 person, product-focused engineering team – Our technical team is made up of former PMs, designers, and programmers who sweat the details
- Build deep domain expertise – Understand both clinician workflows and client needs to design solutions that work for complex multi-sided use cases
What we’re looking for
- Strong product design foundation – 3+ years designing tech products with a portfolio showing UX thinking, systems design, and visual polish
- Research-driven approach – Comfortable conducting user interviews, testing prototypes, and turning feedback into design decisions
- Scrappy and autonomous – Thrive in early-stage environments, work directly with engineers, comfortable wearing multiple hats
- Strong Figma and prototyping skills – Create everything from wireframes to high-fidelity interactive prototypes
- Bias for action – Ship quickly, learn from usage, and iterate rather than pursuing perfect designs in isolation
- Empathetic and collaborative communicator – Present research findings, advocate for users, and build trust with diverse stakeholders
Bonus points for:
- Experience designing for neurodiverse users, healthcare software experience, copywriting ability, early-stage startup background
- In-person 2-5 days per week in our Chelsea (NYC) office preferred but open to virtual for the right candidate
Process
If we interview you, you can expect the following process:
- An initial 30 minute conversation with Byrne (our Head of Engineering)
- A 60 minute portfolio review with 2 members of the engineering team
- A take home project and 30 minute remote presentation
- A 3-round onsite interview in Chelsea (NYC) to meet the team
- We will speak with 2-3 references you provide
