Production Engineering (PE) is an internal engineering organization that collaborates with PureStorage Engineering teams to provide productivity tools and services, bolstering and streamlining the development cycle of FlashBlade and FlashArray products and features. We work with all internal engineering teams to avoid any bottlenecks in our testing and delivery processes. Engineers in the Production Engineering Organization possess excellent communication and analytical skills, with a mix of software, systems, and data science expertise. They are passionate about designing and building great services and have experience with building tools, services, and automation to manage and improve our operations.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers within the datacenter
- Manage and maintain OpenStack-based infrastructure for virtualization, networking, and storage
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and failover mechanisms for critical systems
- Perform capacity planning and resource allocation to optimize hardware utilization
- Implement security best practices for access control, patch management, and system hardening
- Perform vulnerability assessments and mitigate security risks
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the services to avoid bottlenecks and ensure robust and reliable infrastructure
- Build debug tools and analyze test failures across a multi-machine hardware/software stack within a continuous integration automation framework
- Provide continuous support to internal engineering teams to facilitate easy and efficient code delivery.
- Utilize a data-driven approach to identify and resolve problems
- Develop automated processes to calculate and evaluate service adherence to defined SLAs
- Standardize and optimize the use of observability and incident management tools across teams
- Participate in backlog refinement and project planning
- Participate in postmortem analysis, driving continuous improvement
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...
- 8+ years of experience as DevOps Engineer or similar role in enterprise environments
- Experience with DevOps scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, Bash, etc. is desirable
- Strong experience in datacenter operations, including physical and virtual server management
- Expertise in virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, KVM)
- Experience with LAN/WAN networking schemes such as DNS, ACLs, TCP/IP, and OSI models
- Experience with containers and container orchestration systems (eg. Docker)
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Terraform is an advantage
- Experience with the implementation, maintenance, and support of observability (monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting) practices
- Experience with Identity and Access Management; Okta, AD, SSO, OAuth, SAML
We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
The annual base salary range is: $175,000 – $263,000. Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations.
This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
