WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

As Qualia continues its rapid growth and expansion of our product lines, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Controller to join our Finance team. This is a new role where you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our general ledger, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and maintaining a robust control environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial health of a fast-paced, innovative technology company with 500+ employees. You will be instrumental in supporting our continued growth, including potential future acquisitions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the daily operations of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in Sage Intacct
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and other financial transactions
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure proper accounting for all business activities, including revenue recognition for SaaS products
  • Oversee and lead 2-3 direct reports
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports
  • Lead efforts related to ad hoc financial projects, analyses, and initiatives as needed, including supporting due diligence and integration efforts for mergers and acquisitions
  • Provide leadership and vision for process improvements, scaling the team and automation within the accounting function to enhance efficiency and accuracy.  This would include identifying and implementing use cases for AI within our processes
  • Perform technical accounting research and analysis on an ad hoc basis
  • Support the annual audit 

YOUR BACKGROUND THAT LIKELY MAKES YOU A MATCH

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a people management role
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and experience with its application in a corporate environment, especially in a SaaS company
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, specifically Sage Intacct
  • Experience with other financial tools such as Ramp, Navan, ADP, FloQast, and Ordway is highly desirable
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and integration, is a significant plus
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to think strategically and creatively about open-ended business problems
  • Independent self-starter and adaptable in a fast-paced and changing environment 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with ambiguity, solve problems, and think on your feet
  • Based in San Francisco, CA, or Austin, TX. 

This role has a base annual salary of $165,000-$200,000 plus a competitive equity and benefits package. (Salary to be determined by relevant experience, location, knowledge, and skills of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
