About the team:

The Quantitative Research & Strategy (QRS) team within RA Capital helps inform investment decisions and improve core processes with data-driven analyses. The team focuses on three core areas: portfolio management, risk management, and data science. They leverage complex datasets to uncover insights related to trends, patterns, and key drivers within the healthcare and financial landscapes. The team operates on a wide variety of projects in a fast-paced environment; often collaborating across teams (Invest, Venture, Legal, Finance, Compliance, TechAtlas, etc) and working directly with senior leadership & portfolio managers.

About the Internship

As a Quantitative Research & Strategy Intern at RA Capital, you will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the company’s research efforts by collecting, streamlining, and organizing detailed data. QRS Research interns will gain exposure to internal and external third-party databases to enable the collection, curation, and management of large data sets to support a diverse set of analyses. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience for college students interested in life science investing. You will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting, gain valuable skills, and make meaningful contributions to our research efforts.

Candidates must be eager to experiment with ways to incorporate AI into their work to be more efficient and effective. RA Capital is looking for people who are proactive about using AI where possible, looking for new tools and even creating new tools; AI is transforming our work, and we are specifically looking for AI-forward people to ensure that we are leveraging these tools to make us as effective as possible.

  • Training/Mentoring:
    • Understanding how to source, transform, and analyze data to answer key questions from senior leadership.
    • Take existing python and SQL based analyses and make them scalable.

  • Networking: You will have an opportunity to network with our Invest, Venture, TechAtlas, and Operations teams through the internship as well as with other interns within the firm.

Key Requirements

We are looking for curious, intelligent, and driven individuals with a strong interest in financial markets and data analytics that are capable of delivering results in a timely manner and at the highest levels of quality. All applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:

  • Must be a current student within 1 year of graduation (Bachelors or higher) in a STEM degree.
  • Must have strong knowledge of python and SQL. Databricks experience preferred.
  • Must be curious, flexible, and able to adapt quickly to changing projects and priorities
  • Must be based in Massachusetts (consideration will be given to applicants who are willing and able to relocate to MA for the duration of the internship).
  • Ability to work out of our Boston office for the duration of the internship, approximately a 10 week commitment beginning on/around June 22, 2026
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship

 

Compensation & Internship Experience

This is a paid, hourly internship position. Compensation is competitive within the industry and commensurate with experience and level of study. Eligibility for additional benefits may vary based on the duration and structure of the internship.

Massachusetts Internship Hourly Pay Range

$25 - $40 USD
