THE ROLE
We are looking for a bright, confident, dynamic and can-do Senior Account Director on a Fixed Term Contract (6 months) to work on one of our largest accounts. You’ll play a key role in leading our media activity, reporting into an experienced Business Director and working within a Client Leadership team of 20.
This is one of the biggest accounts in the agency and still growing with a c.45-strong team. We have had the account since 2002 and the client satisfaction scores have consistently been among the highest in the agency. We are a big team doing innovative work that spans every capability in the agency. We are also a mini agency within RAPP, with a friendly, family dynamic.
Business Strategy and growth

With the seniority of your position, you instinctively know how to lead happy and effective teams – getting the very best out of your colleagues. And with your deep knowledge and expertise regarding your clients, you spot opportunities and risks early on. You’re then able to help the agency tackle these things proactively. You lead calmly, but with conviction. When it comes to presenting, you naturally have the authority and gravitas to hold a room. You’re the head of a happy and effective team – always getting the best out of them. And you’re first in line when it comes to positive challenge.
- On Client relationships:
o You forge mutually rewarding, authentic (and enjoyable) client relationships .They’ll always come to you to be challenged. It’s because you provoke and inspire them. And they’ll always come to you to be reassured. That’s because they trust you to find the best way forward
o You create an atmosphere and working environment which makes people want to work with you, whatever your business
o You are a point of escalation for your clients (typically project escalations). By working closely with your Senior/Project Manager, you develop healthy day-to-day client relationships
o You’re responsible for understanding your clients’ business and brand objectives. In a nutshell, you know their business inside out. You take responsibility for sharing and training others in this knowledge
- On internal relationships/team management:
o You use your experience and skills to inspire successful, happy and effective teams. So that your team can do their very best work, you motivate and support them in creating the best ideas
o Whatever the challenge, being positive with those around you is your default setting. And as you’ve been in their shoes, you proactively nurture and develop the Senior Account Manager talent under you
Operations Management
Commercially, you’re buttoned-down. That means at any point, you always know the financial status and health of your business. As a leader, you inspire your agency team to always deliver more: more work, more revenue, more satisfaction. You take responsibility for influencing and delivering against commercial targets.
Delivery
You inspire your team to create braver and better work. Making sure they instigate it, and then unleash it. You’re the most senior Client Leadership on the account that is responsible and accountable for the E2E delivery of client work - so are responsible for your direct report’s output as well as their own, ensuring that your team is on track, delivering to a high standard and client team is satisfied with overall output. You are also responsible for managing up to your Business Director on the delivery remit within your workstreams, escalating any client/team issues and reinforcing team success.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This account is likely to be the most multi-faceted and strategic account you’ll work on – for three reasons:
- We are the client’s out-sourced marketing team, which means we have greater input and direction on the marketing strategy and the communications
- Part of your job is to communicate to every household and business in the UK – developing campaigns across multiple channels
- You’ll get to work and learn from some of the most talented people in the industry, both within our internal team, but also industry experts in strategy, data, research, and behavioural sciences.
This is a unique role. You won’t just get involved in creative communications, you also have the opportunity to shape customer experiences across all channels including digital, F2F and the call centre, building broader marketing skills. You will be involved in the commercials, building business cases, operations, plus exposure to senior stakeholders.
THE REQUIREMENTS
- A new or experienced SAD, with extensive experience running campaigns for paid media channels
- Strong strategic and delivery skills
- Passionate about data and comfortable working with strategy, planners and data teams to deliver exceptional work, that works
- Proven experience of building strong relationships with clients, different departments, and 3rd parties • Excited to deliver dynamic creative work and able to harness our internal talent to optimise creative and design
- Strategic thinker and understands the need for insights and the importance of a killer creative brief
- Primarily focused on media channels including display, social, rich media
- Driven with a natural curiosity to learn, build knowledge and lead teams to deliver responsive and hardworking campaigns
- Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
