The Applications Engineer will serve as a critical technical interface between our customers and internal engineering and manufacturing teams—supporting technical sales, quotation development, and early-stage design definition for battery pack programs.
This role requires both strong technical understanding of battery systems and excellent communication skills to translate customer requirements into clear technical and commercial proposals.
What you get to do
- Serve as the primary technical liaison for new business opportunities, supporting the sales team with technical responses, customer Q&A, and proposal development.
- Interpret customer specifications and requirements to define battery pack configurations, electrical and mechanical interfaces, performance targets, and validation needs.
- Lead or support the preparation of cost and timing estimates for engineering and production quotations, collaborating with design, manufacturing, and supply-chain teams.
- Develop technical proposal materials including system architecture descriptions, performance summaries, and compliance matrices.
- Participate in customer design reviews and present Re:Build’s technical capabilities and solutions.
- Support feasibility assessments and early-stage concept studies for new applications.
- Maintain a deep understanding of Re:Build’s engineering, testing, and manufacturing capabilities to ensure accurate quoting and positioning.
- Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to ensure smooth handoff from quote to program kickoff.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of quoting tools, standard templates, and cost models.
What you bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, technical sales, or product development—preferably in battery systems, electrification, or automotive components.
- Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery technology, including cell formats, pack architectures, thermal management, and BMS fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and performance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly present technical and commercial information to customers.
- Proficiency with common engineering tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Excel, or equivalent quoting tools).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DFMEA, DV/PV test planning, and manufacturing process flows for battery systems.
- Familiarity with automotive or aerospace program lifecycles (RFQ, sourcing, development, SOP).
- Hands-on experience building or testing battery packs or modules.
- Strong project management and multi-functional coordination skills.
What You’ll Gain
- Exposure to cutting-edge battery technologies across multiple industries.
- Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and manufacturing experts.
- Opportunity to shape the front end of Re:Build’s customer engagement and growth strategy.
