Who we are looking for
An Engineering Technician is a specialized professional who applies principles of engineering, physics, mathematics, ergonomics, safety, quality control, technical writing, and maintenance to develop, optimize, and maintain systems and processes within a multitude of operational processes. As problem-solvers and innovators, Engineering Technicians continuously seek improvements in process performance, driving advancements in technology and contributing significantly to the operational excellence of an organization.
What you'll get to do
Work closely with Product and Production Engineering to perform the following activities:
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement through analysis of production metrics such as productivity, first pass yield, interruptions, and scrap rates;
- Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety/quality standards and regulations;
- Ensure the maintainability of new installations by implementing an effective predictive and preventative program;
- Ensure workplace safety with heavy focus on operator ergonomics;
- Improve workstation layout, workflow, and assembly methods;
- Support product/process validation and verification testing and report generation;
- Write, update, and approve production processes and procedures;
- Assist with research, purchases, and/or implementations of new equipment, processes, procedures, and systems;
- Respond urgently to line stoppages and mitigate down time.
Work closely with Design Engineering to perform the following activities:
- Conduct customer, product, technical and regulatory research;
- Develop conceptual designs utilizing 3D CAD software;
- Conduct Risk Management activities ensuring product safety;
- Prototype and test engineering solutions;
- Optimize design for manufacturing, inspection, and service as applicable.
- Execute Product Verification & Validation efforts to include writing test reports and conducting tests.
- Implement corrective action to solve design challenges or issues. This may include changing design features, selecting a different manufacturing method or a complete redesign of the component.
Other Responsibilities as directed:
- Able to evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements.
- Assist in internal audits.
- Assist in evaluation and corrective action for returns and customer complaints.
- Building/facility maintenance.
- Capable of conducting FMECA.
- Leadership, teamwork, problem solving, and information technology skills.
- Proficient communication skills.
- Knowledge of production equipment for purchase, installation, and repair.
- Engineering Technicians are members of the Production Integration Group and required to participate in team activities.
What you bring to the team
- High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year hands on practical engineering experience. Associate degree in Engineering Technology or similar preferred
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting
- Exercise original thought and judgement
- Work in a group environment with creative, open minded, out of the box thinking.
- Show attention to detail
- Manage time and organize tasks
- Possess good communication skills
- Understand manufacturing processes and construction methods
- Exhibit good problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines
- Experience using basic measurement tools (calipers, height gauges, pin gauges, etc.)
