We are Raleigh, NC headquartered but open to a remote candidate for this opportunity. This role will involve 25% domestic and international travel.
Job Overview:
Relay’s Senior Director of Accessories will lead all hardware product efforts related to cases, audio, and charging solutions for the Relay product line. The ideal candidate is obsessed with customer experience, believes no detail is too small, and is excited to drive simultaneous projects. This role combines product management, engineering, customer experience, and procurement disciplines to completely own product decisions and P&L outcomes. You will work closely with Relay’s internal product teams and external partners to design, prototype, and mass produce new products that exceed customer expectations. A successful candidate will have deep technical experience in industrial accessories development, a track record of translating customer needs into product decisions, and an attention to detail throughout the development process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop market and customer insights to inform hardware and accessory product roadmap and requirements through customer visits.
- Intense focus on product user experience through iterative product development methods working closely with ID design, engineering and manufacturing partners.
- Relentless pursuit of product reliability and robustness to ensure all products meet the high demands of our customers.
- Ownership of the full product lifecycle management from concept through end-of-life
- Commercial negotiation for development costs and product costs to exceed company financial goals.
- Develop extensive competitive product knowledge to best identify areas of competitive advantage and product feature gaps.
- Work closely with Sales and Support teams to arm them with crisp sales tools that communicate key features and selling points.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and/or Business degree
- Work Experience: 10+ years in a Hardware product management field
- B2B/enterprise/ruggedized accessory development experience
- Understanding of chipset architectures commonly used in audio or charging solutions
- Experience in rapid prototyping and user experience testing for an iterative design process
- Self-motivated with constant desire to learn
- Interest and passion for the fast paced startup environment
- Eagerness to actively engage with customer and partners (both domestic and international)
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel and work autonomously
