Software Engineering Manager - RF-SMART for Oracle Cloud

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of 7-9 software engineers building our advanced cloud-based inventory and warehouse management solutions. In this role, you'll drive technical excellence while developing a high-performing team that delivers fast, configurable, and easy-to-use software solutions used by thousands of supply chain professionals daily.

This role offers the opportunity to influence our AWS cloud architecture, help scale our platform, and mentor engineers in modern DevOps and SaaS development practices. You will work at the intersection of technology and operations, where your decisions directly impact supply chain efficiency for customers worldwide.

Team & Scope

  • Team Size: 7-9 software engineers (mix of senior, mid-level, and junior)
  • Reports to: Senior Manager of Product Engineering
  • Collaborates with: Product Management, DevOps, QA, Agile Delivery Specialists, and Technical Support
  • Products: Cloud-based WMS and ERP integrations

What You'll Do

People Leadership (50% of your time)

  • Build and grow the team: Hire, onboard, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Develop careers: Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and create personalized career development plans for each team member.
  • Foster culture: Build a collaborative, innovative team environment that values quality, continuous learning, and customer impact.
  • Manage performance: Make compensation recommendations, manage promotion processes, and address performance issues with empathy and candor.
  • Create opportunities: Provide mentorship, stretch assignments, and training to help engineers grow.
  • Drive engagement: Maintain high team morale and retention through transparent communication and meaningful recognition.

Technical Leadership (30% of your time)

  • Guide architecture: Participate in technical strategy and architectural decisions for cloud-native solutions.
  • Ensure quality: Establish engineering best practices (code review, testing, documentation), and maintain high quality standards.
  • Balance priorities: Working with product management, make smart tradeoffs between technical debt and feature delivery.
  • Drive modernization: Champion adoption of CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and DevOps practices.
  • Own reliability: Take responsibility for system performance, security, availability, and operational excellence.

Delivery & Collaboration (20% of your time)

  • Partner on roadmaps: Collaborate with Product Management to define priorities, scope features, and commit to realistic delivery timelines.
  • Manage execution: As part of sprint planning align capacity allocation to ensure the team consistently delivers on commitments.
  • Communicate progress: Track and transparently share progress, risks, and blockers with stakeholders and leadership.
  • Enable the team: Remove obstacles, secure resources, and advocate for your team's needs.
  • Bridge silos: Work closely with engineering team leads, DevOps, Agile Delivery Specialists, and Support teams to deliver cohesive customer experiences.
  • Champion customers: Ensure customer needs and feedback influence technical decisions.

What You'll Bring

(Required Qualifications)

Management Experience

  • 5+ years leading & managing software engineering teams (both onsite and fully remote, minimum 5 engineers)
  • Demonstrated success hiring, developing, and retaining technical talent across skill levels.
  • Experience managing in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • History of delivering complex software projects on time and to specification.

Technical Background

  • 7+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with C#/.NET (Core/Framework) and web development.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, or similar).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS strongly preferred; Azure or GCP acceptable).
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems.
  • Experience with SQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of security best practices, authentication/authorization, and compliance requirements

Leadership & Communication

  • Excellent communication skills—can translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to inspire teams and drive results through influence, not authority.
  • Experience navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and changing requirements.
  • Conflict resolution skills and comfort having difficult conversations.
  • Data-driven decision making with clear metrics and success criteria.
  • Strong collaboration skills across product, design, and business teams

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field OR equivalent practical experience through progressive technical roles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with warehouse management, logistics, supply chain, or ERP software
  • Background in B2B SaaS companies with multi-tenant architectures
  • Experience scaling platforms and teams through rapid growth phases (2-5x)
  • Exposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Datadog, New Relic, Grafana)
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
  • Understanding of message queues and asynchronous processing (SQS, RabbitMQ, Kafka)
  • Previous experience with incident management and SRE practices
