Director of Hospitality

Summary- San Antonio Winery, a historic and award-winning family-owned winery, is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and guest-focused Director of Hospitality to lead and elevate the hospitality experience across its Southern California locations. This role will oversee all facets of the guest journey—from wine tasting and dining to private events and retail—ensuring that every visitor receives the warmth, quality, and tradition that defines our brand.
The Director of Hospitality will be responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and financial performance of the hospitality division, with a strong emphasis on team leadership, service standards, and delivering an authentic experience to guests.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Current duties may be changed if the job requires and/or additional duties may be assigned if necessary.
- Develop and implement best-in-class hospitality standards across all customer touchpoints (tasting rooms, restaurants, events, and tours).
- Lead the creation of engaging guest experiences that reflect the heritage, culture, and values of San Antonio Winery.
- Monitor and respond to guest feedback, online reviews, and service metrics.
- Oversee daily operations of the hospitality departments including tasting room, restaurant, bistro, events, and retail.
- Ensure operational efficiency, cleanliness, safety, and compliance with local health and liquor laws.
- Drive alignment between front-of-house and back-of-house teams for smooth service delivery.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of hospitality professionals, including managers, servers, tasting room staff, and hosts.
- Recruit, train, and develop staff with a focus on guest service, product knowledge, and team culture.
- Foster a collaborative, guest-first environment that reflects the values of a family-owned business.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and growth of private events, wine club gatherings, and on-site celebrations.
- Ensure compliance with wine industry regulations, licensing, and health & safety standards.
- Work closely with the events and catering team to maintain high-quality service standards and profitability.
- Develop and manage budgets, labor forecasting, and performance metrics for all hospitality functions.
- Analyze P&L reports and identify areas for cost control and revenue growth.
- Collaborate with ownership and finance teams on forecasting and strategic planning.
- Partner with marketing teams to create immersive hospitality programs, VIP experiences, and promotional initiatives to drive foot traffic.
- Ensure all guest-facing experiences reflect the San Antonio Winery brand voice and visual identity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of progressive leadership in hospitality, preferably within wine, food & beverage, or luxury service.
- Demonstrated success in managing multi-unit or high-volume operations.
- Strong financial acumen, with proven experience managing budgets and driving revenue growth.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop teams.
- Deep understanding of Southern California hospitality trends and guest expectations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; high emotional intelligence and cultural awareness.
- Wine knowledge and passion strongly preferred; WSET or sommelier certification a plus.
- ServSafe and RBS certification required.
- Willingness to work weekends and travel locally as needed.

Pay Range
$10,000 - $130,000 USD
