Job Summary/Overview:

The Electrical Facilities Safety Professional acts as the departmental safety representative for issues related to industrial safety and as the departmental and site expert for Electrical Safety. This position reports directly to the Part Leader for the Facilities Electrical Department, but works closely with EH&S on Electrical Safety matters.

Specific Job Duties:

• Establish, implement and continuously improve safety processes to address the unique needs of electrical power distribution in a facilities and semiconductor fabrication environment.
• Act as primary department interface to Environmental, Health & Safety personnel and Program Managers. Manage incident response, Tier 1 site audits and water-falling information about changes to the site Electrical Safety Program, as required.
• Provide support for other (non-electrical) departmental safety concerns, when necessary.
• Provide technical support for new and existing equipment from a safety perspective utilizing prevention –through-design principles and conduct equipment and planned work risk assessments, in support of Risk Inspection and Change Management processes to identify hazards and verify or develop mitigation measures.
• Manage the site Electrical Energized Work (EEW) Specification and EEW Reduction Initiative and EEW Permitting Program.
• Provide electrical safety training to support site competency goals for Qualified Electrical Workers (QEW), personnel performing Energized Electrical Work (EEW) and tool/maintenance technicians across site, including, but not limited to; NFPA 70E, Electrical Hazard Identification, and Electrical LO/TO.
• Provide National Electrical Code (NFPA70) training to support continuing education of engineers and technicians related to new code changes, new electrical safety technologies, etc.
• Provide site orientation to new department employees and electrical contractors in order to ensure electrical risk exposure and site electrical safe work practices are fully understood as a part of the Electrical Safety Program and on-boarding.
• Manage department monthly closed-loop “Sequential Safety Meeting” process.
• Initiate and manage other departmental Safety communications, such as Weekly Reporting, Safety Flashes, Quarterly Meetings safety topics, etc.
• Participate in safety Task Force Teams and other site-wide initiatives as needed to support the “Journey to Zero” Program.
• Compile and analyze results from the annual Safety Perception Survey, report findings to leadership and track action items and drive improvements to performance.
• Coordinate a small team of “Electrical Safety Gurus” to support resourcing safety inspection and walks for on-going work and promote electrical safety leadership and engagement across the department.

Skills and Qualifications:

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required

Engineering Degree or related field or 10+ years Electrical Safety Experience in an industrial setting

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools

• Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and electrical fundamentals.
• High-level knowledge of NPFA 70E and OSHA standards
• Strong ability to track safety information and manipulate data with Excel Spreadsheets and Pivot Charts
• Strong ability to provide effective training to qualified electricians, apprentices, and tool technicians and non-electrical personnel
• Understanding of Prevention-through-Design concepts and experience with equipment risk assessments
• Ability to function independently and will minimal oversight and consult with department leadership
• Program Management experience and knowledge of industrial/commercial Electrical Safety Programs
• Knowledge of Compliance requirements for OSHA and local ordinances in General Industry (1910)
