The site spans 1,200+ acres and the first phase of development will have 4.7 million square feet of floor space consisting of a cluster of semiconductor manufacturing buildings such as a fab, office, parking garage, central utility building, and special utility supply facilities. The Taylor facility will boost the production of semiconductor solutions that will power next-generation technologies in areas like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and high performance computing.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Job Summary/Overview:
Samsung Austin Semiconductor, LLC is looking for an attorney to fill an IP in-house counsel position. Candidates should have at least ten (10) years of patent litigation experience at a major law firm and/or in-house counsel position, as well as ideally having experience with licensing matters and contract review, including negotiating and drafting license and settlement agreements. Preference will be given to candidates who have knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and circuits. Candidates should be self-motivated to succeed, have strong legal and business judgment, and will be expected to contribute to the team in short order. Candidates should further possess a wide range of skills and be able to take on multiple responsibilities at the same time, which responsibilities can vary as Samsung's goals evolve. Domestic and international travel may be required.
Specific Job Duties:
1. Patent Litigation: Managing and supporting patent litigation matters, including formulating and coordinating overall case assessment and strategy with Samsung US/Korea Offices and outside counsel, responding to discovery requests in litigation and performing discovery especially for U.S. affiliates of SEC, including preparing for and attending depositions of corporate personnel.
2. Litigation Participation: Preparing for and attending key litigation proceedings, including depositions, Markman hearings, trials, settlement conferences, arbitrations, mediations etc.
3. Patent Analysis: Reviewing patents, analyzing and comparing claims to accused products, formulating and coordinating IPR/reexam etc. strategy with Samsung HQ IP Team in Korea and outside counsel.
4. Other duties as may be required.

Skills and Qualifications:
Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required
JD from an American Bar Association accredited law school and BS degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field. At least ten (10) years of patent litigation at a major law firm and/or in-house counsel position. Admission to practice in at least one US state.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools
Strong verbal and written skills and ability. Prefer the candidate is a member of the State Bar of Texas. Prefer a candidate with knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and semiconductor technology. Prefer bilingual Korean ability.
The current base salary range for this role is between $175,500-$273,870. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
