ALX Data Scientist (Learning Experience)

This role demands a blend of technical expertise, educational insight, and corporate experience to ensure our content is both academically rigorous and practically applicable.

ABOUT THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE DESIGN TEAM

The Learning Experience Design team consists only of data people, but we are also scientists, engineers, teachers, creatives, writers, and many other things. We design, develop, and maintain instructor-led and self-paced data curriculums and other learning interventions that are story-driven, problem-centric, intuitive, interactive, and beautiful for ALX.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Research and develop high-quality learning objectives and activities, including projects, walk-throughs, and workshops in Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, and AI.
  • Assist in the development of R&D projects using LLM agents, NLP analysis, automated unstructured assessments, and AI-led learning journeys.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree or PhD in a STEM or related computational field. 
  • Proven experience (+3 years) in at least three of the following:
    • Developing and/or applying machine learning algorithms. Experience in Large Language Models is preferable.
    • Advanced analytics, including graph analytics, time series analysis, and optimization. 
    • End-to-end data projects using machine learning/predictive modeling (including deployment, integration, and evaluation at scale).
    • Data modeling and database design.
    • Cloud infrastructure and/or computing experience, preferably AWS certified.
    • Experience with MLOps/DevOps tools and practices (containerization, orchestration). 
  • Proficiency in programming languages, including Python and SQL, and tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
  • Proven experience with version control through Git and GitHub.
  • A good understanding of the machine learning and statistical techniques and the ability to explain them to others. 
  • Leverage strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities to tackle complex challenges.
  • Strong inclination for innovation and research, driving forward-thinking initiatives with a proactive and inventive mindset.
  • Work autonomously as a resourceful self-starter and contribute as a highly motivated team player.
  • Excellent command of English, with strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-experts.

This is a remote job, which means that you can work from anywhere in the world. However, preference will be given to candidates in GMT to GMT +4 time zones.
