- Full-Time: 40 hours / 5 days
- 8 hours per day, requires one weekend shift
- Shift: PM 3:00PM - 11:30 PM

What You’ll Do as a Medication Technician:
As a Medication Technician, you will coordinate and oversee all aspects of medication-related care for residents, including procurement, administration, documentation, and compliance. You’ll manage the medication room, ensure regulatory requirements are met, and support the care team as part of the Health & Wellness department to promote resident safety and wellness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain resident charts. Keeps documentation current for example community forms, licensing documentation, physician order, and incident reports.
- Communicates resident status changes to LVN Supervisor, Director of Health & Wellness and/or Administrator.
- Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders (written/telephone) and change orders. Oversee community absence medication program.
- Ensure medication room is completely stocked with all required continuous, PRN, over-the counter (OTC) and other medications as ordered by the physician.
- Assist in coordination with outside/contracted pharmacy, including staff training, audits, deliveries and destruction.
- Communicate with physicians and other healthcare providers as needed.
- Monitor psychotropic medication use is consistent with physician orders, observing whether resident behaviors warrant use of medication.
- Control medication room access and key assignments.
- Pour, pass and assist with administration of medications in accordance with DSS regulations.
- Assist in coordinating physicians and other medical appointments.
- Review community documentation between Caregiver shifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Successful completion of a certified Medication Technician training program.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in long-term care, home care, or a related setting.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Effective communication and basic math skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office or willingness to learn within 90 days of hire for documentation purposes.
- Ability to work flexible hours or provide coverage/overtime as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting.
- May be exposed to blood and body fluids which may contain HIV and/or HBV.
- Must be able to transport residents via wheelchair, Geri chair or shower chair, pushing up to 150lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to transfer, lift, turn and position a resident weighing up to 125lbs. unassisted, or with the assistant of one for a resident weighing over 125lbs.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, squat, stand, and walk for up to 90% of the work day.
- May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior.
- Must be able to reach up to a level of six feet; must be able to push a dietary cart up to 40lbs unassisted.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20lbs. frequently and 50lbs. occasionally.
