
Junior Equities Trader
The Role
We are seeking a Junior Trader to join the fundamental equities trading team at Schonfeld in our New York office. You will have a passion for trading and an understanding of the equities trading market, proactively collaborating with other Traders, Portfolio Managers, and other teams cross-functionally to support the trading execution activities. You will create strong relationships across internal/external stakeholder groups and be able to communicate effectively and work well with others.
What you’ll do
- Execute equity order flow using high and low touch execution channels and using our execution management system
- Contribute to best practice execution on trades and ensure the desk is always providing best execution service to Portfolio Managers
- Proactively collaborate with our Traders/Portfolio Managers to discuss positions, flows, and market dynamics
- Extract useful market color and flow information from our trading counterparties and other sources
- Liaise with our Front Office Technology group on various process and workflow improvements
- Contribute to and help manage our counterparty relationships and commission schedules
What you’ll bring
What you need:
- Academic credentials in finance, economics or related field
- Some knowledge of equities markets is required
- Demonstrable understanding of general market protocol and etiquette, equity pricing and positioning
- Knowledge around broker-sponsored algorithms, broker cash desks, dark pools and DMA facilities (not required, but a plus)
- Fluency with trading technology, execution management systems and order management systems
- Commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards
- Strong attention to detail
- Deep curiosity and strong analytical skills
- Experience/Familiarity with Bloomberg

Who we are
Schonfeld Strategic Advisors is a multi-manager platform that invests its capital with Internal and Partner portfolio managers, primarily on an exclusive or semi-exclusive basis, across four trading strategies; quantitative, fundamental equity, tactical trading and discretionary macro & fixed income. We have created a unique structure to provide global portfolio managers with autonomy, flexibility and support to best enable them to maximize the value of their businesses.
Over the last 30 years, Schonfeld has successfully capitalized on inefficiencies and opportunities within the markets. We have developed and invested heavily in proprietary technology, infrastructure and risk analytics and continue to capitalize on new opportunities. In 2021 we launched our newest strategy, discretionary macro & fixed income as part of the continual growth of Schonfeld’s investible universe. Our portfolio exposure has expanded across the Americas, Europe and Asia as well as multiple asset classes and products.
The base pay for this role is expected to be between $120,000 and $140,000. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
