The Role

We are seeking a highly qualified and talented Market Data Manager to join us as a valued member of our growing Market Data Services team in Hong Kong. The team is responsible for the sourcing, entitlement, and licensing of data from a broad range of global vendors, brokers and exchanges. The team supports Schonfeld’s diverse set of investment strategies across quantitative, fundamental equity, tactical trading and discretionary macro & fixed income portfolio managers. We use a strategic approach to discover new avenues of insight, manage the inflow of data into our team’s processes, and are responsible for managing effective and efficient data and research partnerships on behalf of the firm. The role plays a critical part in helping the firm identify and manage data sets across multiple asset classes and regions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Market Data Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing new unique data sets across all strategies. You will oversee the full lifecycle of data onboarding—from initial acquisition and extensive vendor negotiation to collaboration with legal and technology teams—ensuring seamless integration of datasets into the firm’s centralized research platform and data warehouse. 

You will be expected to develop strong relationships with our portfolio managers and the heads of business lines to understand our teams’ strategies and which data sets will be most relevant. Your knowledge of market data vendor landscape across the APAC region will ensure that we are evaluating all relevant vendors and making the best decisions for our team. Manage vendor relationships, stay current on vendor product offerings and serve as the primary vendor contact.

Qualifications & Skills

  • At minimum, five years of experience in financial services specifically dealing with market data
  • Deep understanding of multiple asset classes and strategies with a preference towards macro trading (FX, futures, and fixed income) across quantitative, discretionary and event-driven strategies
  • Understanding the market data acquisition process and onboarding workflow with experience in contract negotiation and relationship building
  • Familiarity with entitlement systems like DACS and EMRS
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with history of delivering results in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient in at least one regional language and fluent in English
