Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will own financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis processes that support the company's strategic goals. Your insights will guide decision-making across the organization, ensuring efficient resource allocation to maximize growth and operational efficiency.
Role responsibilities:
- Oversee development and management of the company’s annual financial plan, department budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand and challenge financial assumptions and ensure alignment with company goals.
- Prepare detailed financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives, go to market plans, product development, and investment decisions.
- Monitor key financial metrics, including revenue, expenses, profitability, and cash flow, providing variance analysis and recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Support investor relations by preparing financial reports, presentations, and narratives for stakeholders.
- Contribute to internal company meeting presentations and deliver presentations as needed.
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects and analyses, including M&A activities, scenario planning, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Key qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; 7+ years of experience in FP&A, preferably leading a team.
- Experience working with large data sets and complex models.
- Comfortable operating in a high-ambiguity, fast-evolving business environment.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel.
- Understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and key financial metrics.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and levels of an organization.
- Strong attention to detail, with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in both technology and life sciences industries.
- Familiarity with financial planning software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, SAP).
- MBA and 2+ years of experience in investment banking.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
Salary/Pay Range:
Science is required under California law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on the indicated salary band. The base salary range for this full-time position is $190,000 – $230,000 annually + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
