Scopely is looking for an Associate Counsel, Product & Privacy, to join our Legal team in Barcelona on a flexible hybrid basis!

The Legal team provides legal and business-related advice, negotiate deals, review and draft contracts, administer intellectual properties, and manage acquisitions and litigation. 

 

What You Will Do:

Scopely's legal team is currently looking for a Legal Counsel, Product & Privacy to join our rapidly growing in-house Product & Privacy legal group. You will report to the Senior Director located in Barcelona and will interact with and support various groups across our fast-paced mobile games business, including game teams as well as marketing, player experience, information security, and more. You should be comfortable working with cross-functional teams and have the ability to manage a wide range of projects across all levels of the business and across multiple time zones.

 

  • Assist with Product legal and Privacy compliance review, including review of new game features, in-game events, sweepstakes and other promotions, and marketing disclaimers
  • Respond to day-to-day Product and Privacy legal requests from various business teams
  • Help manage company trademark portfolio and provide support on intellectual property matters such as review of art assets and coordination of infringement reporting processes 
  • Support ongoing compliance initiatives, including quarterly compliance reviews and the creation of compliance guides
  • Investigate and draft responses to escalated consumer complaints and inquiries initiated by consumer protection regulators located in various jurisdictions 
  • Collaborate with the information security team on data mapping activities
  • Assist with other tasks as needed, including department project management and research

 

What You Will Need:

  • Minimum 3 years of legal experience at a law firm and/or tech company advising on intellectual property, privacy, marketing, and consumer protection issues
  • Experience with privacy and data protection compliance requirements, including those relating to GDPR and CCPA (at minimum)
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and ability to follow through in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree, Msc preferred (or equivalent)
  • Excellent verbal and written fluency in English
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and experience building a trusted relationship with global cross-functional teams at all levels 
  • Experience taking ownership of and solving problems, demonstrating judgment, creativity, critical analysis, and taking into account legal risk and product/business needs

 

Bonus:

  • Experience working with global teams across multiple time zones
  • Experience working with mobile game developers and knowledge of legal issues particular to the gaming industry
  • Privacy certification (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM)
  • Sense of humour and a passion for mobile gaming
