DevOps Lead - LiveOps Automation Team
Scopely is looking for a DevOps Lead to join our LiveOps Automation team for our Live Games Portfolio on a hybrid/remote basis.
At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.
You’ll be joining the LiveOps Automation team at Scopely, where we are shaping the next generation of game operations tools that utilize Machine Learning and AI to empower scalability, personalization, and efficiency through data-driven systems. Our mission is to unlock smarter, faster, and more impactful ways for game teams to manage LiveOps strategies. This role is pivotal in helping to define the future of Scopely’s game operations.
What You Will Do
- Lead the DevOps strategy and execution for the LiveOps Automation platform, enabling robust, self-service infrastructure across games and tools.
- Build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-availability cloud infrastructure supporting internal tools, orchestration pipelines, and machine learning services.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to implement FinOps best practices, ensuring cloud resource usage is optimized for cost-efficiency and scalability.
- Define and enforce CI/CD best practices, supporting high-velocity development and frequent, safe deployments for multi-team delivery pipelines.
- Own infrastructure observability: implement monitoring, alerting, logging, and performance dashboards to ensure proactive incident management and system health.
- Drive reliability and incident response readiness, including SLIs, SLOs, and on-call protocols, to meet internal SLA expectations.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and data teams to architect infrastructure that scales with player demand, content complexity, and campaign volume.
- Champion security best practices and compliance awareness in every deployment pipeline and operational routine.
- Mentor engineers and advocate for DevOps culture across teams—driving knowledge sharing, automation mindset, and operational excellence.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles, including experience in high-scale distributed systems.
- Deep hands-on expertise in cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP and AWS, but Azure experience welcome), including Terraform, and managed services (BigQuery, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, etc.).
- Proven experience scaling internal platforms and pipelines across multiple teams or business units.
- Expertise in modern CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Spinnaker, etc.) and containerization (Docker).
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure monitoring, tracing, and alerting tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, etc.).
- Solid scripting/programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Go) to support automation and custom tooling.
- Ability to manage cross-functional technical dependencies and drive alignment between game tech, central platform teams, and LiveOps product stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills—comfortable aligning tech architecture with product needs and business priorities.
Bonus Points
- Experience working with ML/AI infrastructure or MLOps pipelines.
- Background supporting internal tooling platforms or campaign management systems.
- Familiarity with F2P gaming or live game infrastructure.
- Experience with observability standards such as OpenTelemetry.
