What you’ll do

The Manager of Parts Operations is responsible for the comprehensive leadership and management of Scout Motors’ genuine parts business, ensuring the seamless procurement, pricing, sales, compliance, administration of spare parts. This role will maximize customer satisfaction and business efficiency through strategic planning, effective inventory management, and adherence to legal standards. You will also become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: 

  • Ensure the systematic creation and tracking of replacement parts and their corresponding part numbers. 
  • Generate and maintain a comprehensive parts list to support the timely availability and identification of parts across the organization.  
  • Collaborate closely with the Scout Purchasing team to manage the procurement process and secure necessary volumes of replacement parts for aftersales operations, include retail service operations, wholesale operations, and collision. 
  • Manage both short-term and long-term parts demand planning to guarantee minimum stock availability for day-to-day operations and for demand after the end of series production, ensuring minimization of stock-outs and backorders while optimizing inventory levels to balance availability and cost.  
  • Develop and implement a competitive pricing strategy based on thorough market research, parts basket analysis, and benchmarking studies, ensuring that Scout Motors genuine parts pricing remains attractive and competitive, enhancing customer satisfaction and business profitability.  
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation for the commercialization of parts in North America and relevant international markets; stay up to date on regulatory developments and continuously verify that all Scout Motors genuine parts meet the necessary legal standards. 
  • Lead the parts sales planning process by creating detailed sales forecasts for upcoming months and years to ensure that inventory levels align with anticipated demand, optimizing stock levels to prevents shortages while not accumulating excess inventory. 
  • In collaboration with Scout Parts Logistics, develop policies and procedures for automatic stock replenishment, parts returns, order types, delivery commitments, core parts management, and pricing; these policies should maximize parts throughput and turnover, dealer and customer satisfaction, and Aftersales profitability. 
  • In collaboration with Scout Parts Logistics, manage the internal ordering process to maximize dealer order fill rates while minimizing obsolescence and scrapping.  
  • Build and manage an internal parts support team and help desk that is capable of providing timeline, accurate, and useful information to retail workshops, wholesale accounts, and collision centers, ensuring an expedited vehicle service and repair process that is not hindered by parts availability or fitment accuracy. 
  • In collaboration with the Scout Marketing team, develop creative parts marketing campaigns and incentive programs to drive retail and wholesale business. 
  • Manage local third-party supplier programs for items not supplied through the global parts program, such as tires, fluids, shop supplies, hazardous materials, and uniforms.  
  • Establish the strategic and tactical goals for the Scout Motors genuine parts business and directs reports, including providing guidance, support, and development to members of the parts team. 
  • Develop and manage parts data collection, reporting, and analytics that offer regular and transparent views on the health of the business, thereby providing opportunities for both tactical and strategic adjustments that optimize future business operations and profitability. 
  • Regularly present the parts business status and health to Scout Motors executives, field teams, and retail operations. 

Location & Travel Expectations: This position is located in Columbia, SC. The responsibilities of this role require regular attendance to meetings and events in other Scout locations as Novi, MI. and Fremont, CA. Domestic and international travel is anticipated for 10% of working days, though international travel for training and coordination may be more frequent in the first two years.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, logistics, business, or another relevant field. 
  • 7+ years of experience in automotive parts management or a related field, including a deep understanding of parts creation, procurement processes, inventory management, and pricing strategies. 
  • The candidate must demonstrate exceptional analytical abilities, with a proven track record in strategic planning and forecasting. Experience in market research, competitive analysis, and the development of pricing strategies is essential. 
  • A thorough understanding of regulatory requirements for automotive parts in the U.S. and international markets is crucial. The candidate should have experience ensuring compliance with various legal standards and adapting to regulatory changes. 
  • Strong leadership skills are required to effectively manage and develop a team. The candidate should have experience in guiding, coaching, and assessing team members, setting strategic goals, and ensuring alignment with company objectives. 
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with executives, field teams, dealers, and suppliers is vital. The candidate must have strong presentation skills and the ability to convey complex information in a concise manner. 
  • A customer-centric approach is essential, with a focus on maximizing dealer and customer satisfaction. The candidate should possess strong problem-solving skills, capable of addressing and resolving issues promptly to support the vehicle repair process. 
  • Experience in developing creative marketing campaigns and incentive programs to drive parts sales is necessary. The candidate should have a strong understanding of both wholesale and retail markets, with the ability to implement strategies that boost business growth.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $125,000-$150,000
