What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Support the development of Scout retail and service centers by leading projects through site due diligence and early concept phase. Manage external consultants (Architects/Engineers of Record) to ensure correct implementation of Scout brand standards and design guidelines.
  • Facilitate exchange of facility requirements between Retail Strategy, Architecture, and Real Estate teams in support of the site search process. Administer the use of toolkit documents, and refine the process as needed for continuous improvement.
  • Support Scout Architecture through rapid test-fitting of potential sites for functional layout (programming/furniture/equipment), and manage the completion of site assessment reports. Apply creative problem-solving skills to produce facility designs compliant with internal design standards as well as jurisdictional requirements.
  • Produce presentation materials for internal and external audiences, compile documents for the internal project approvals process, produce written reports, visual media, and communications.
  • Monitor and track project performance through measurement of design quality from concept design through construction documentation. Implement lessons learned to continually build and improve upon the retail development playbook.
  • Foster authentic relationships with peers and vendors to build a network of trusted partners. Train vendors on Scout procurement practices and anticipate their needs in effort to continually expedite execution of vendor agreements. Become deeply familiar with scope expectations for external vendors, and manage execution of work accordingly.
  • Facilitate development of construction documents and manage the permit approvals process. Work with Scout preconstruction manager and construction manager to develop construction budgets for internal funding and assist with development/maintenance of project schedules. Ensure brand design compliance is met throughout the various phases of design.
  • Support operational launch of retail locations by ensuring brand compliant installation of furniture, aftersales equipment, graphics, accessories, and merchandise.
  • Develop and maintain digital design toolkit, compliance framework, and standard operating procedures to guide Scout vendors, consultants, and development partners.
  • Remain current with emerging technologies, zoning, building codes, and construction best practices for industry leading building systems and design management.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role may be based out of a Scout Motor's location in Fremont, CA; Novi, MI; Columbia, SC or Tysons, VA. Remote candidates within the United States may also be considered. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
  • Travel: Domestic travel approximately 30% of the time. 

What you’ll bring

  • Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, and/or relevant field.
  • Licensed Architect or NCIDQ, preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in design/construction of exceptional retail experiences.
  • Experience leading multiple design projects at scale, while managing 15+ internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of construction and real estate practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to develop and manage effective vendor/partner relationships.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret feedback and lead projects to resolution.
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency with Revit/CAD, Bluebeam Revu, Sketchup, rendering software, Adobe Creative Suite, Jira, and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, architectural specifications, zoning regulations and other jurisdictional regulatory requirements
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically approximately 30% of the time
  • Valid driver's license required

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $130,000.00 - $160,000.00
