What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Develop, plan, and execute tests for steering systems, brake foundation components, and electronic brake boosters in accordance with industry standards (ISO, SAE, FMVSS) and internal requirements
  • Derive test procedures based on requirements to ensure performance, efficiency and reliability of brake & steering systems
  • Conduct performance, durability, environmental, functional and regulatory testing for vehicle and system-level evaluations
  • Perform in-vehicle and system level component measurements (Torques, Forces, NVH, friction, temperatures etc.)
  • Conduct FUSA related test preparation and execution
  • Support root cause analysis for issues identified during testing and propose corrective actions
  • Collaborate with DREs and suppliers on integration and validation plans and activities
  • Coordinate part availability and ensure test readiness to meet project milestones
  • Document test plans, results, and technical reports to communicate findings effectively to internal and external stakeholders and as a base for part releases and release recommendations

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
  • The responsibilities of this role require 3-4 days attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in an engineering field of study
  • 4+ year of experience in automotive component and vehicle level testing related to steering and braking systems
  • Passion for vehicle operation and performance, specifically in truck and off-road vehicle development.
  • Familiarity with brake system performance metrics, validation methodologies, and compliance standards
  • An in depth understanding of electronic brake actuation systems and foundation brake component design
  • Hands-on experience with test equipment, sensors, CAN tools (e.g., Vector CANalyzer, CANoe), and data acquisition systems.
  • Vehicle limit handling driving abilities in precision and emergency maneuvers documented by standardized licensing testing (SAE, TRC, OEM Specific).
  • Experience with component test benches, dynamometers, and HIL/SIL setups for functional validation of braking and steering systems.
  • A strong understanding of Functional Safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) and their application to brake and steering system testing and validation processes.
  • Hands-on experience with in-vehicle testing on public roads, proving grounds and specialized test tracks.
  • Motivation to work at the cutting edge of electric vehicle technical design, creation of new ideas and solutions, and enjoyment of hands-on vehicle testing.
  • Flexibility for domestic and international travel as on a regular basis
  • Strong interpersonal skills, task ownership, self-motivation, problem solving, innovation creativity and communication skills.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $120,000.00 - $135,000.00

Internal leveling code: IC9
