Summary of Specialist, Process Optimization & SAP Data (Warehousing) Role:
This FAP Process Optimization SAP Reference Data Management role focuses on ensuring that reference data related to the receiving area of the warehouse is accurately maintained in SAP systems, helping to optimize operations and improve the accuracy of inventory tracking. You will work to streamline processes, implement best practices, and identify areas for improvement in the receiving area. This role requires strong expertise in SAP, process optimization, and data management, combined with leadership and collaboration skills to drive improvements across the warehouse and broader supply chain operations. By maintaining accurate reference data and improving system integration, you will contribute to more efficient, accurate, and cost-effective operations in the receiving area.

The role of a FAP Process Optimization SAP Reference Data Management for Receiving Area Warehousing involves overseeing and optimizing the processes related to the management of reference data in the SAP system, specifically focusing on the receiving area of the warehouse. This role is critical in ensuring that all warehouse data, particularly for incoming materials and parts, is accurately reflected in the SAP system. The goal is to improve the overall efficiency and accuracy of warehouse operations by streamlining the process through SAP system optimizations and best practices in data management.
- SAP Reference Data Management:
- Reference Data Maintenance: Ensure the accuracy and consistency of reference data (e.g., material master data, vendor data, purchase order data) within the SAP system. This includes data related to incoming goods, material types, unit of measure, and storage locations.
- Data Integrity: Monitor and maintain the integrity of the reference data in the SAP system, ensuring that all incoming materials are properly classified and stored in the system.
- Data Updates and Clean-Up: Manage updates, corrections, and the clean-up of outdated or incorrect reference data in the SAP system to ensure smooth receiving operations.
- Data Governance: Implement best practices for data governance to ensure that the reference data is accurate, up-to-date, and complies with company standards and policies.
- Process Optimization:
- Process Improvement in Receiving Area: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in the receiving area. This could include streamlining workflows, improving material handling, optimizing inventory management, and minimizing errors related to receiving and data entry.
- Automation and System Integration: Work closely with the IT and SAP teams to develop and implement automation solutions that can improve data accuracy and speed in the receiving process (e.g., automated barcode scanning, RFID systems, or integration with other systems).
- Lean and Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies to the receiving process in order to reduce waste, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Analyze any issues in the receiving area related to SAP reference data and provide root cause analysis for discrepancies, identifying any weaknesses in the current process or system and suggesting corrective actions.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, warehouse, and IT teams to ensure that SAP reference data is properly maintained and that warehouse operations are aligned with the latest updates in SAP.
- Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Work with vendors and suppliers to ensure proper integration of external data with the SAP system and handle any discrepancies related to material deliveries.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to warehouse and procurement teams on the correct use of SAP reference data in receiving and inventory processes. Ensure that teams understand how to handle reference data and any changes made to it.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Generate Reports: Create and maintain reports on SAP reference data, identifying trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement. These reports could cover material receipts, inventory discrepancies, or data integrity issues.
- Document Procedures: Maintain thorough documentation for all processes related to reference data management and process optimization. Ensure that standard operating procedures (SOPs) are up-to-date and followed by the team.
- Exception Reporting: Identify and report any discrepancies or issues related to SAP reference data or receiving processes, and work to resolve them promptly.
- System Configuration and Testing:
- SAP Configuration: Work closely with SAP functional teams to configure or modify SAP settings related to the receiving area and reference data management to ensure they align with business requirements.
- System Testing: Perform testing of new system configurations, process changes, or SAP upgrades to ensure that the system meets operational needs and that reference data is correctly integrated and applied in the receiving process.
- Inventory and Warehouse Management:
- Warehouse Optimization: Work with warehouse operations to ensure that material handling and storage practices align with SAP data, ensuring that inventory data in the system matches physical stock locations.
- Inventory Visibility: Improve inventory visibility in the SAP system by ensuring that materials are tracked accurately as they move through the receiving area and are recorded properly in the system.
- Cycle Counting and Audits: Support inventory management by participating in cycle counts and audits, ensuring that SAP reference data is accurate and that any discrepancies are addressed.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina.
- The responsibilities of this role require daily attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- SAP Experience: 3 to 5 Years of Extensive experience working with SAP, particularly in reference data management, materials management (MM), or warehouse management (WM) modules. Familiarity with SAP processes and configurations related to receiving, inventory, and supply chain management.
- Process Optimization Experience: 3 to 5 Years of Experience in process improvement, with a strong understanding of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies applied in warehousing, inventory management, or supply chain processes.
- Warehouse Management Experience: A strong background in warehouse operations and inventory management, ideally in the context of the automotive manufacturing industry or other fast-paced manufacturing environments.
- Data Management Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing large volumes of data, maintaining data integrity, and troubleshooting data-related issues in SAP or other enterprise systems.
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Highly Preferred): A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications: Certifications in SAP (such as SAP MM or WM), Lean Six Sigma, or other relevant qualifications are a plus.
- Skills:
- SAP Proficiency: Strong knowledge of SAP, specifically the Material Management (MM), Warehouse Management (WM), and Reference Data Management functionalities.
- Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for process improvement. Ability to work with large datasets and generate insights to improve operations.
- Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to troubleshoot issues related to data discrepancies, process inefficiencies, or system errors, and take corrective action.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail when managing reference data in SAP, ensuring accuracy in material information, inventory records, and purchase order data.
- Project Management: Ability to manage projects related to system improvements, process optimization, or SAP configurations. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and report on issues, improvements, and system updates.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with data management tools and Microsoft Excel (advanced) for reporting and data analysis. Experience with SAP BW or other reporting tools is a plus.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $90,000.00 - $110,000.00
