THE OPPORTUNITY 

Silvus is seeking a Manager or a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to join the Finance team.  The individual in this role will report to the Chief Financial Officer, assist with leading the FP&A team, while contributing significantly to our financial strategy and ensuring informed decision-making for Silvus. The successful individual in this role will possess a strong analytical mindset, proficiency in financial modeling, and the ability to provide actionable insights to senior leadership.

This opportunity allows for either a junior level FP&A supervisor ready to take the next step in career advancement to become a manager; or a seasoned FP&A manager ready for greater leadership responsibilities to take on a director role.

This position is on a hybrid schedule, a minimum of 3 days onsite per week is expected. On-site days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The location for this role is Silvus Technologies’ HQ in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: MANAGER of FP&A

  • Coordinate and manage the budget and forecast process effectively, ensuring the involvement of all relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor and track forecast and budget performance against actuals.
  • Develop and enhance variance reports to provide insights into budget versus actuals.
  • Communicate variance reports to internal departments, providing clear status updates.
  • Analyze performance data, identify root causes, and prepare comprehensive written reports.
  • Produce clear and concise monthly performance summaries, trend analyses, and insights.
  • Develop analytical models and proactive tools for ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Implement exception reporting models to quickly identify outliers in key performance metrics.
  • Enhance budget models and other tools to facilitate accurate and dynamic budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Supervise staff, including day-to-day activities, performance monitoring, mentoring, and training.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Clearly communicate complex financial information through presentations and written communication to executive stakeholders.
  • Monitor performance against targets and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Generate ad hoc reports and analyses as requested by senior leadership.
  • Compile, analyze, and report monthly Sales Backlog, Pipeline, and probability weighted sales outlook models to support improved business and operational forecasting.
  • Prepare and track revenues/costs by customer, end markets, segments, and programs.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: DIRECTOR of FP&A

The following are in addition to the responsibilities outlined for the Manager role:

  • Autonomously lead, coordinate, and manage the budget and forecast process effectively, ensuring the involvement of all relevant stakeholders.
  • Actively and continuously monitor and track forecast and budget performance against actuals, generating insight into organizational drivers of variances from budgeted to actual performance.
  • Recommend Key Performance Metrics and assist Executive Management in monitoring and taking action to improve and maintain Key Metric Performance.
  • Continuously develop and improve data systems, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and reduced cycle time of Key Business Performance Metrics.
  • Provide organizational insights into the impacts of product pricing/discounts, customer terms, and vendor spending/pricing.
  • Implement rolling quarterly forecast processes to continuously develop financial outlook after annual budgeting processes and improve organization.
  • Manage ad hoc requests by senior leadership and recommend enhancement to drive improved insights.
  • Work with sales to improve accuracy and extend the period of outlook for backlog, pipeline, and probability-weighted sales forecasting based on CRM data.
  • Improve accuracy and consistency of sales data tracking for revenue, backlog and pipeline by customers, end market, region, segment, product, programs, and opportunity, with the intent to improve forecasting accuracy and data insight provided by CRM.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: MANAGER of FP&A

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in building analytic models and preparing written reports.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Understanding and ability to transform raw data into usable formats, ensuring reliability and completeness for subsequent analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate data into informative reports for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to effectively manage interdisciplinary projects and teams while prioritizing multiple tasks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: DIRECTOR of FP&A

The following are in addition to the qualifications required for the Manager role:

  • Master’s degree or MBA in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in building analytic models and preparing written reports.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Financial systems implementation experience: Budgeting, Forecasting, Business Intelligence, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent business acumen and inter-departmental communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and adept at finding alternative solutions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to present well-researched financial results confidently to Executive Management / Board.
  • Experience managing corporate budgeting processes.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Prefer at least 3-5 years of Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Management Consulting Experience.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., CFA, CPA, or CMA).
  • Experience with NetSuite accounting, budgeting and forecasting tools, and/or Business Intelligence tools.
  • Experience forecasting and analyzing operational cash flows.

COMPENSATION: 

  • Manager of FP&A: $130,000 - $170,000/annually
  • Director of FP&A: $160,000 - $190,000/annually

 

COMPENSATION

The pay range is NOT a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
