
People Operations Generalist

We’re seeking a People Operations Generalist to provide key support for the People Operations function at Smartsheet. This position will assist with the new hire onboarding and offboarding processes, administration of Human Resources Information Systems (Workday), and proactively drive process improvement projects to elevate the way People & Culture operates, with a specific focus on enhancing employee self-service. You will have a history of supporting employees while promoting a great employee experience. You will be part of the People Operations & Experience Team and will report directly to the Sr. Manager, People Operations.
You Will:
- Coordinate the process of the employee life cycle, including onboarding, personnel file management, employee inquiries, and offboarding.
- Act as a Tier 2 escalation point to ensure employee inquiries related to HR, Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, etc. are answered promptly and correctly via FreshService ticketing system.
- Independently develop, maintain, and continuously improve user-centric documentation and self-service content for global internal processes and employee-facing materials. This includes creating clear guides, FAQs, and resources that empower employees to find information efficiently and independently.
- Independently lead the transition of People & Culture administrative tasks into the PeopleGO Shared Services team scope.
- Act as a knowledge source for policies, procedures, and standards for each of the global Smartsheet entities.
- Support operating procedures and business processes within Workday or other people systems, ensuring data integrity
- Partner with the People Process Improvement team to continuously improve the Workday infrastructure to automate processes, implement web-based self-service features, and minimize administrative overhead
- Be a Smartsheet Cultural Ambassador by recognizing and developing the culture of Smartsheet while continuing to champion the core Smartsheet values
You Have
- 3+ years of related experience in HR operations or employee service center
- 1+ years of experience contributing to HR projects
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills with the ability to explain technical processes to non-technical end users
- Strong attention to detail
- Acute understanding of confidentiality and access to sensitive information
- A strong self-starter with proven ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities effectively, and demonstrate sound personal judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Excellent at follow-up, with ability to deliver within defined timelines
- Model a determined focus and will to succeed that is contagious; handle adversity well, recover quickly, and sustain drive over the long haul
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- Workday experience strongly preferred
- Advanced level of proficiency using Microsoft Office and Google for Work
