Software Engineering Intern, Graphics - Undergraduate

United States, San Mateo: this position must be performed fully in person out of the SIE-PlayStation San Mateo, CA office.

What You’ll Be Doing: 

SIE Global Developer Technology Group is seeking an intern to assist with research and development projects that push the limits of graphics on PlayStation 5. As an intern, your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing PS5 runtime applications for rendering algorithms and tools.

  • Researching and developing software techniques that leverage low-level GPU hardware features.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited institution, pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field, with an expected graduation date by Spring 2026.

  • 2+ years of experience with C#, C++, or similar object-oriented programming languages.

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design and development techniques.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Solid foundation in computer graphics and linear algebra.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with Visual Studio.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with recent OpenGL, Vulkan, or Direct3D APIs.

  • A desire to learn and understand the inner workings of graphics processors.

Eligibility:

  • Able to work full-time (5 days a week) in our San Mateo, CA office during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 17th - September 5th. 

  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

  • Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. 

 

Intern Pay Range

$50 - $50 USD
