Software Engineering Intern - Master's 

United States, San Mateo: this position must be performed in a hybrid capacity out of the SIE-PlayStation San Mateo, CA office. 

About the Team: 

At Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), we prioritize enhancing users' gaming experiences and engagement, which are key to our platform's success. Our team is focused on developing cutting-edge frontend applications that elevate the gaming experience for our customers, providing seamless and enjoyable interactions. In addition to developing applications based on React Native, you'll have the opportunity to learn a wide range of development processes essential for a software engineer, including touch points of server-side development, CI/CD, and QE. Depending on the tasks you work on, you may also be involved in supporting game partners and collaborating with teams responsible for other applications.

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Understand and analyze product requirements.

  • Develop the technical skills to learn and apply different software languages.

  • Develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software applications.

  • Provide solutions and improvement ideas that are simple, maintainable, and well-abstracted.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop product features.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited institution, pursuing a Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, projected to graduate by Spring 2026.

  • Fundamental understanding of programming languages and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript, Java, Python, React, React Native).

  • Interest in user interfaces and user experiences (UI/UX).

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Eager to learn new technologies, collaborate cross-functionally, and engage in discussions to explore and improve ideas.

Eligibility:

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.

  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

  • Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.

  • Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. 

 

Intern Pay Range

$54 - $54 USD
