Staff Portfolio Data Analyst
San Mateo, CA
The Staff Portfolio Data Analyst will serve as the senior data authority within the Portfolio Management team for the Platform Business organization. This role will design and implement advanced data solutions that provide reliable, real-time portfolio insights to inform high-impact strategic decisions. As a technical and analytical leader, the Staff Analyst will own the architecture of portfolio data pipelines, introduce new methods of analysis, and partner with senior stakeholders to ensure data is actionable and trusted across the organization.
This role partners with Program Delivery, Finance, and other key teams to ensure our portfolio data is accurate, meaningful, and actionable.
Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain scalable data pipelines and frameworks that integrate program management, finance, and operational datasets into a single source of truth for portfolio insights.
- Lead the design and delivery of advanced dashboards, reports, and analytics products that empower leadership to assess portfolio health, performance, and value realization.
- Own ongoing operational portfolio reporting cadence — delivering automated dashboards and recurring reports (e.g., budget vs. actuals, delivery metrics, and resource data) to enable day-to-day visibility.
- Perform hands-on querying and data validation to ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy of portfolio datasets across systems.
- Proactively identify opportunities to automate manual workflows, reducing cycle times for portfolio reporting and rebalancing, and implement repeatable solutions.
- Define and enforce data quality standards, validation processes, and governance practices to ensure consistent use, adoption, and best practices for portfolio data and reporting.
- Maintain and document portfolio analytics definitions, data lineage, and business rules in partnership with Portfolio Enablement and Insights teams to promote shared understanding.
- Provide complex data modeling, scenario testing, and portfolio performance measurement in partnership with the Insights & Analytics Lead and Strategic Planning.
- Partner closely with Finance and Data Strategy to align portfolio metrics with ROI and outcome-based frameworks, align data definitions, and establish trust in the numbers.
- Partner with Portfolio Enablement to evaluate and implement BI platforms, ensuring data solutions are scalable and integrated into the rhythm of the business.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior analysts and upskill broader team members on analytics tools, dashboards, and best practices.
- Support executive-level portfolio reviews by ensuring accuracy, integrity, and clarity of all portfolio data presented to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, or related field; advanced degree a plus.
- 6–8 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related field, ideally within technology or portfolio/program management.
- Expertise in SQL and at least one advanced analytics language (Python, R, etc.), with proven experience building automated data pipelines and models.
- Proficiency with Excel and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI), including experience designing executive-ready dashboards.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, system integrations, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated experience managing recurring operational reporting cycles and validating data integrity at scale.
- Experience maintaining data documentation and collaborating cross-functionally to align business and technical definitions
- Ability to partner with cross-functional leaders and translate complex data into actionable insights for decision-making.
- Track record of driving measurable improvements in reporting processes, data reliability, and analytical capabilities.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$188,600 - $283,000 USD
