Career Opportunity: Fundraising Development Specialist (Contract) with The Ohio Justice & Policy Center in Cincinnati, Ohio | Hybrid Schedule

Are you a strategic, hands-on fundraising professional with deep knowledge of the Cincinnati philanthropic landscape? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where organization, initiative, and collaboration are key? Are you ready to help drive a transformative campaign focused on second chances for formerly incarcerated individuals? If so, we want to hear from you.

The Ohio Justice & Policy Center (OJPC) is seeking a Fundraising Development Specialist for a 6–12-month contract to help manage and execute the next phase of our statewide campaign. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to roll up their sleeves, keep a complex campaign on track, and contribute meaningfully to grant writing, donor engagement, and campaign strategy.

As the Fundraising Development Specialist, you will:

  • Lead day-to-day campaign execution, tracking progress toward a seven-figure fundraising goal.
  • Manage internal meetings and campaign workflows to keep leadership and staff aligned.
  • Write and support grant applications, including using AI tools to streamline drafting.
  • Conduct donor prospect research using fundraising software and tools.
  • Maintain organized donor outreach materials and campaign documentation.
  • Track contributions, deadlines, and campaign milestones.
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure campaign efforts are integrated, not siloed.
  • Support donor stewardship and help diversify major gifts and individual giving.
  • Be a thought partner in campaign strategy and grant development.
  • Help support senior leadership in development effort and ensure accountability across the team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, campaign management, and grant writing.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with donor research tools.
  • Deep knowledge of the Cincinnati philanthropic community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach, this is not an advisory role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Windows and experience with fundraising database applications. Bloomerang preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to build relationships with diverse backgrounds, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the criminal legal system and enthusiasm to learn more.
  • Respect for the journeys and stories of clients and impacted communities.

This is a contract position with a budget of $65,000/year (no benefits), depending on the length of the contract, with potential to evolve into a longer-term role. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week. A hybrid schedule is desired, with at least 3 days onsite in our Cincinnati office.
